    A FRIEND IS A TREASURE

A friend is someone we turn to
When our spirits need a lift,
A friend is someone we treasure
For our friendship is a gift,
A friend is someone who fills our lives
    With beauty, joy, and grace
And makes the world we live in
    A better and happier place.

Have a blessed and healthy Monday!

I Asked the Lord to Bless You

I asked the Lord to bless you
As I prayed for you today
to guide you and protect you
as you go along the way...

His love is always with you
    His promises are true
and when we give him all of our cares
you know He will see us through

So when the road you are traveling on
    seems difficult at best
just remember I am here praying
and God will do the rest.

    Hi Paula,
I hope this note finds you and yours well.

As for me I hope you keep me in your prayers. About the middle of May I got sick with what I thought was the flu. It lasted about two weeks and when I felt a little better and went to the doctors. I go to a local clinic and after the doctor heard my symptoms he sent me to the emergency room. I was admitted and stayed there for the next 9 days. I am very impressed with all the tests they did to try and find out what was wrong with me. It seems that I have a few masses, and so other issues. The biggest problem is that I might have Pancreatic cancer. I think in a week or so they are going to do a Whipple operation if my liver is in good enough shape to do the surgery. I guess some of the tests showed I have a mass on it and I have had a blood disease which might have weakened it to much. They are going to check out the liver first when I am on the operating table with some sort of camera through my belly button and if it looks okay then they will go in and do the Whipple. The Whipple is a very tough surgery because they will be cutting on a lot of organs. They are removing my gall blatter as well.
I am now a stage one diabetic and have to take injections at least 5 times a day for the rest of my life.
It all so crazy because everything has happened so fast.
I really am blessed because I don't have the pain associated with my failing body and all this has been found before that. I am hoping that when I do wake up from being on the operating table I have a big slit in my stomach. Otherwise they might not be able to do the procedure needed to find out if I have pancreatic cancer and if I do how advanced it is.

As far as my progress on the house it is kind of on hold for a while. I hope to get back on it when I recover.

So Paula, please ask all the ladies and gents to pray for my operation and the guidance for the surgery team and all the medical team.

I am comforted knowing that no matter what happens with this surgery or the outcome it is His will.

One good thing is that I've lost about 25 lbs since all this started and will continue losing weight rapidly for a period of time. I am kind of grateful that I am toting around lots of extra weight to make it through this process. I am already watching my carbs closely because of being plunged into the insulin game (non-functioning pancreas) and when they remove my gaul blatter I won't be able to eat any fatty foods without experiencing heavy pain. Or so I am told.

Sorry about venting, but as you know I don't have many in my life to share with. I have gotten support from a friend that I thought we had drifted to far apart. It is good to have support in a time like this. I feel the Lord's love around me all the time and I know it is His hand that has made it possible to have all this great care possible. If I had moved I would not have the medical insurance assistance that I have here, nor the access to such a fine teaching hospital. Praise the Lord.

I'll let you know what I find out and when the surgery is set for.

    Bless you and yours, Lorin
