Hi I'm Sonja. I am originally from Oklahoma, but now I live way up here in Northern Michigan. I am loving it here! I have never spent so much time outdoors. That is really making it a lot easier to get out and exercise. I have even grown to like winter sports of all things. I am a theatre person, mom, wife, student... so many hats.
I have been working on weight loss for a couple of years now. It has been slow work, but well worth it. When my son was two (now five) I realized that "baby weight" was no longer a valid excuse for being 50lbs over weight. So I set to work. I have lost a total of 41 lbs to date.
Sparkpeople has been a great resource for me. I am now happy to say that my goal weight is within sight! Yea! I am now working on finding new goals to challenge myself. I am finding that I have an inner desire to be athletic, not just thin, something I have never been and never even dreamed of being.

Sonja...thanks for the well wishes with my epidemic appliance issues! Ha... We will be using that 60 year old Nesco to get by this week! Unbelievable. They don't make things like they did 60 years ago...that's for sure! Well, sounds like your parents have a brand new kitchen! Thanks for sharing their story.

    Have a wonderful week!

P.S. I see you are also on the Conservative Team. Smart woman! Me too! ;) I think I recall seeing you there...but get mixed up with who I see where...AGE!

Hey Sonja- thank you SO much for the note and well wishes on my run this morning!!

The race started an 10 - it was about 23 when we left the house - about 9 so I had a chilly start but at around the 1 mile mark we passed a bank w/the temp and it was 35. Had I not been running I would have thought it was too cold but I dressed good and was very comfortable the whole run. There were people there in shorts - I was dressed like nanook of the north - but I was warm!!

I SO suck at pacing myself outside - I have been running 12 min miles on the treadmill so I thought if I could keep up that pace outside I could be done in about 48 - then you add in the adrenalin of "the race" I was shooting for 12 MM, hoping for 11 MM. When I hit the 1st mile mark and they said 9:55 I knew I was in BIG trouble - I started way too fast. I finshed in 42:20 - HOLY CRAP-OLY!

Later DH and I went to Red Lobster for lunch - hey, it doesn't get any better than that huh!!

Then I came home and took my boys to the park for a nice long walk - well stroll. They are silly boys - so many things to smell and pee on so little time!!! ha ha

OH and other big news in our area - I am SO NOT a basketball fan but the Binghamton Univ. Bearcats won a BB game earlier today sending them to the NCAA"Big Dance" for the first time ever in history!! woo hoo Like I said I don't know one end of a BB court from the other but felt a little proud and happy for them today.

Thank you for your well wishes this morning!! Have a great afternoon!
