Update 9/21/2011

Starting Again. Well....yes, sort of. I've gained back 20 of the 50 lbs I'd lost. I retired in December 2010, and did well maintaining my weight loss for awhile, but then became unfocused and allowed weight creep to get to me. But I am not defeated, I'm just stalled. But I've begun again, and I'm just as determined as ever. IT IS WONDERFUL BEING RETIRED! But I do need to learn how to be retired and stay focused on my health goals.

I'm 63 years old.

About 6 weeks ago, I started exercising again, and I joined a gym. I use an exercise bike 4-5 times a week, for 30-35 minutes. I'm also beginning to workout with weights 2-3 times a week. This is making me feel much better, both physically and mentally.

One month Update: 05/15/09
I'm really feeling good. I've lost a lot of inches -- 13 pounds, (maybe more) because scales LIE! LOL. But my clothes are fitting better. And some are becoming too loose, believe it or not!

I'm a lot more active. More exercise, more cardio, and strength training 3 times a week now. I'm looking forward to the next month.

6/16/09 -- Update

Well, I've lost 23 pounds. I'm feeling fantastic. I can walk pretty well now without much knee pain - just a "catch" once in a while. I'm exercising like crazy. I'm a lot more active, with so much more energy. I take a walk break just about every hour at work. I feel like a different person in just the 2 months since I started on SparkPeople.


Total loss so far 42-1/2 pounds. That's getting close to half of my goal loss in just over 5 months. I'm not starving myself. I'm not depriving myself. I'm eating healthy foods that I enjoy. I can hardly believe it myself. This program works, if YOU work it. Stick to it, eat well, exercise hard, track you foods,have some patience, and it truly pays off.

Fitness Minutes: 35,079

My Goals:
1. Long-Term Weight Loss. To lose 90 lbs.

2. Manage weekend eating so I do not compromise progress made during the week.

3. Learn to like to cook. It is better for me and for my health.

My Program:
1. I started slowly resuming stationary biking at home back in March 2009.

2. I started with 15 minutes and gradually increased to 25 minutes in a month.

3. I started working out again at the gym at work, and increased by biking to 30 minutes.

I joined a commuity center gym at the beginning of April 2009. We have a weight training class with a personal trainer each Saturday and Sunday morning, that includes cardo before and after weights.

I do cardio at least 5 times a week, and weight training 3 times a week.

I am learning to eat healthier, by using all the resources on this site. It is an awesome site!

Personal Information:
My clothes are starting to fit differently.

I'm seeing and feeling the benefits of this healther lifestyle.

    You are getting there and it didn't take you very long to 'get back' to your endurance level, now it will only keep increasing and you'll be looking for new and different ways to push yourself. I exercise at what I call an intense level (really pushing myself) 6/7 days and on the 7th day I do what I call leisure exercise by either riding my bike or play on the Wii a game called Walk It Out, which I find very addicting!

    Just stopping by to see how it is going along for you. I took a sneak peak at the scale and didn't like what I saw. I weigh in on Wednesday, but it is what it is!
