a place i can truly feel good about myself in, knowing i am not alone any longer in my weight loss journey.

my firm belief: i may grow older, but i'll NEVER grow up!

for the first time in a very long time, i'm beginning to feel good about myself..i AM going to succeed..it is taking a long time, but i know i'm gonna make it to the "finish line".

Fitness Minutes: 47,034

My Goals:
.i'd like to be able to walk with out a cane or walking aid. i want to live long enough to see my great grandchildren. I WANT A LIFE!

My Program:
One step at a time...One day at a time...
I am making better choices in what i eat. nothing fried or breaded. less meat, more whole grains. very little refined sugar. more vegetables and fruits...water, water, WATER!

Personal Information:
my name is theresa. i live on long island, ny. i am 67 yrs old, divorced. i have 2 grown children, 1 son-in-law, and 3 beautiful, talented grandbabies, rob(26), christina(24) and nicole(23). .and in october, i will become a great-granmother!!..i live in a family ,mother/daughter home where i have my own apt. i am a recovering alcoholic, sober over 12 years now. presently wheelchair bound, but hoping that weight-loss and conditioning will get me mobile. i believe in the glory of GOD, and that with HIS grace, anything is possible..i was 425+ lbs 10+ years ago, had a stroke, was in a coma for 8 days on life support...spent more then 3 months in hospital...lost over 100 lbs with nutrisystem, but can't afford it anymore..i know that with the support of the friends i've made on spark-people, i'll make it to my goals...thank you, all.

Other Information:
GOD, please grant me the serenity to accept the things i cannot change, courage to change the things i can, and wisdom to know the difference. living each day one at a time, enjoying each moment one at a time, and accepting hardship as a pathway to peace. taking as Jesus did this sinful world as it is, not as i would have it. trusting that You will make all things right if i surrender to Your will. so that i may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with You forever in the next...Amen.

    Hi Theresa
and thanks for the comment on my page. I had wondered where you came from and just read where you posted on the 50+members with 100+ lbs to lose group. I see we share a lot in common coming from higher weights. So and easy is getting it for me. I fall off the wagon now and then. But it took me being so sick and housebound for a yr before family woke up to the fact they couldn't bring home all the extra junk "bad" stuff. I have re done recipes and learned what real portions. Now for exercise & me we are working on it. I don't have a lot of strength just yet but I will. I added you to my friends. So I can keep up with you...

I've been a SPARKER for three months now and am thrilled with how well I've done to reach small goals. I drink my water now and exercise at least 10 minutes (actually more once I am started). I just know you can succeed, too. Sign in every single day and be honest with yourself. You can do this! I hope you are getting treatment for depression. I take Prozac and it makes me feel "normal."
