***update*** Summer 2016
Though I am still 40lbs from my overall goal, I have maintained my original weight loss of over 100lbs. That is two full years of maintenance, which itself can be hard. So while I am disappointed I have not YET reached my ultimate goal, I am proud of what I did accomplish and have maintained. Part of that is the lifestyle changes that I have kept up. Exercise is hugely important to me, I actually enjoy it! I am also still gluten free and eat mostly fresh, whole foods. I do have some corn, rice and sugar but not as major parts of my diet. I know once I am ready, I will buckle down and shed that last 40lbs that is bothering me. In the meantime, I am healthy, happy, and proud of what I have done so far :)


I have been heavy all my life but had reached my heaviest ever at 292lbs......ugh. I was also very sick on top of that, severe fatigue, stiff painful joints, intestinal problems...and on and on.
So when my doctor told me to go gluten free, I started reading and researching. What I found, and then implemented, is changing my life!
My weight loss goal is to lose 150lbs and be in single digit sizes in one year or less. I lost over 40lbs just in the first 2 months!

I am grain free (no wheat, corn, rice, oats, etc) and very low carb (usually 30grams or less a day). But, I do not skimp on the fat! Fat is important for our health, especially when on a low carb diet.
For exercise, my husband and I go to the gym 3x a week and I have a Zumba class twice a week.

The most important thing though is that this is not just a temporary diet to lose weight.....this is a new lifestyle for me that is a permanent change.

Starting point: October 1, 2013 @ 292lbs size 26w

****GOALS****

Get back into my size 22w jeans that have been collecting dust in the closet. *Done!* 11/22/13

Get one third of the way to my overall weight loss goal of 150lbs by losing 50lbs *DONE!* 1/6/14

Lose 60lbs and be able to wear 18w's. *DONE!* 2/4/14

Get half way to my overall goal by losing 75lbs. *DONE!* 3/19/14

Be able to wear the size 16/17 jeans that have been in storage almost since I got married, lol.
*DONE!* 3/28/14

Reach Onederland!!! (be under 200lbs). *DONE!* 5/20/14

Get two thirds of the way to my overall goal by losing 100lbs!
*DONE!* 6/17/17

No longer be "obese" according to BMI charts (under 180).

Be in new territory by being the smallest I have ever been at a size 12.

Be able to wear single digit sizes and reach my goal weight of 142lbs!



My Program:
I am gluten free, grain free, and low carb (30 NET grams or less a day).
I don't restrict fat intake and while I don't really count calories, I try to keep them under 1,500.
*update* I hit a plateau so now I am trying to keep my calories under 1,200 most days.

I drink 8+ glasses of water a day.

I hit the gym 3x a week, have a Zumba class twice a week, and fit in other sorts of exercise where I can.



Personal Information:
I am 36, married for almost 10 yrs, and we live in the Salem area of Oregon. We don't have kids but have pets instead, lol.

I have been heavy all my life and yo-yo dieted quite a bit through the years but was never able to get it all off or keep it off.
Now that I have found a way of eating that works and makes sense to me, I have found the strength and inspiration to make permanent lifestyle changes and working towards my goal of finally being slender and healthy!
