I'm a career woman, wife, mother, nana and Gina's human. I've been overweight my entire life, I was on a diet before I knew what diet meant. And over the years I've tried it all, every diet and every workout gimmick sold with no lasting results except gaining back more than I lost each time. I'm not sure what inspired me to give in to a friend and co-worker's ploy to join our company's weight loss challenge at the beginning January 2013, but I did (kudos Melodi for never giving up on me over the years!). And we were off, I made a commitment to just eat better, you know less soda more water, more fruits and veggies less junk and exercise! The first week I tried exercising after work and that didn't go so well I just couldn’t get it in with my other responsibilities so I tried getting up earlier, well that was the ticket! I could get up early and get in my workout. I was doing so well from January until the end of April when I felt a terrible pain in my knee all of the sudden - fast forward to today because my entire summer, the summer I turned 50 was shot. I tore the root of my meniscus and it took that entire time of doc visits and then the surgeon, surgery and recovery - albeit a minor one, May through August was shot. Best part, I’ve managed to keep off the weight I’d just lost through portion control and eating better, worst part is my knee now has a stinging pain in the knee cap now that I'd never experienced before that comes and goes at will - alas I do have another recheck with the surgeon this week to discuss. All that said I'm ready to start back up, knee pain or not I don't plan to gain back any of the 30 lbs. I worked so hard to loose earlier this year. Also I've been struggling with myself to get back on track. So I found Spark People ~ I’ve dabbled in here just a bit previously, afraid to “go live” for sure. My doctor has encouraged me to find a support group and I was sure I didn’t want to do WW again but I told her I was dabbling with this web site ~ So Here I Am. I want to lose an additional 120 lbs. (that’s 150 total) and I’m going to need a lot of motivation and support, while my hubby thinks he’s helping he really doesn’t but it’s really sweet because I can tell he really is trying.
