After putting on nearly 50 pounds of emotional weight I joined SparkPeople back in 2006, but wasn't successful as I wasn't in the right mind set to take charge and make changes.

January 2009 - I am now ready to commit... ready to take action.... ready to be fit & healthy. I know I can do it, and sure I could have done it earlier than now, but I wasn't ready - and I need to be ready and motivated! Here's to 155 by 8/31/09!!!

*** Update - this morning 08/31/09 - I weighed in and the scale said 153!!! This is exciting news, but I have added an additional 5 pounds to my goal - so my new revised goal is 150! I have three pounds to go and have given myself 1 month to do it!

Exciting news... this weekend, I went to a local department store and tried on size 10 jeans (given my size 12 clothes were a bit loose, the 10s were loose so I tried on 8s - they fit, and I have to say - they look good! I bought 2 pair :)

Revised goal weight - 150 by September 30, 2009 - Goal Met on 9/28/09


Achieve a "normal" BMI for my height! - Goal Met!

My Program:
I am committing to eating healthier foods, working to identify my emotional food triggers, learning to eat several small meals instead of 2 big ones, practicing moderation and... learning to stop when I am full.

Personal Information:
I am a California native who has called Texas home for the last 6 years.

I am a busy professional woman who has so many blessings in her life... her health being one of them. It is time to get this weight off before it really causes my general health and well being to go downhill.

Other Information:
I am learning to run as part of my fitness program. When I first started, I could barely run 1 minute without stopping. I have been working on my running since March and now run between 3 and 4 miles 4 days a week.

I plan to enter a 5K this Fall/Winter once I know I can run the entire distance :)

** Update - have entered my first 5K... it's on October 17th! So Excited!

    Thank you so much for your support and kindness on my "Goal Weight" post! Looks like you'll be crossing the finish line VERY shortly yourself, so HUGE CONGRATS on that amazing journey!

    Remember, we're going to have to eat smart and train hard to keep ourselves here in "skinnyland"! HURRY UP and get there!!! And once you're there I wish you nothing but success keeping this wonderul fitness and health level up that we've succeeded to achieve!

    I saw your comment on the article about getting fitted for running shoes and had to stop by your page. I have been thinking about getting fitted myself to try to get into running to help with my weight loss and have been intimidated by the unknown. Thanks for giving details of what to expect! I always picture the salespeople looking at my big body and asking me if I came in to ask directions or something since I am obviously not a runner now! LOL Keep up the good work! I can't wait til I can say I have lost 40 lbs.!
