    Hi Becky! Just stopping by to wish you a great day. Summer just flies by and I can hardly believe it's the 23rd of August! Make the most of the nice weather while we yet have it and enjoy the great outdoors.

    Press On!

    Well, I suspect the old addage "Time Heals All Wounds" definitely applies here. Glad to hear that you're taking steps to turn things around; I gained about 10 pounds myself, but I've got that under control now. I'm not stressing about those 10 pounds either; I know they'll go, but it's more important to focus on what matters to me most: rehabbing my leg.

    Same as mine.

    Advice from my wife's uncle (sports medicine doctor, team dr. to several national canadian teams, chief of medicine for the canadian olympic committe, chief medical officer for the Vancouver 2010 olympics) boils down to the following:

    * know the difference between pain and discomfort - discomfort is normal, pain is the key
    * cycle and swim as you desire
    * walk
    * once you're up to 30-40 minutes/day walking without pain the next day, start running intervals
    * start with 0.5:4.5 x6 minute run:walk intervals on alternate days
    * once you've been at it for a while and are pain free the next day, add 0.5 minutes to the run intervals
    * if you've got pain the next day, back off slightly
    * go slowly
    * it will heal

    Sounds like you got similar advice.

    I'm at 2.5:2.5 this week; tried upping it to 3:2, but had a little bit too much discomfort, and decided I should probably back off a bit.

    Good luck!
