I am a 71 year old man terminally married to my wife, 72, for 49 years. We have 3 children and 3 grandchildren. My wife is a retired teacher and I am a retired judge and lawyer. My hobbies are hiking, railroading, singing, amateur acting, and youth work. As I started my career in my hometown I was asked to get on the boards of clubs and service organizations and worked until serving as President when I could get off. Scouting, Boy and Girl, involved unit, District and Council work. As I hurried to serve my community my family began to need me to work with their interests which involved a little coaching and a lot of chauffeuring and watching games. By the time I hit 40 I had love handles and by the time I was 50 I was a River Buoy. My body was wearing out, knees needed replacing and old sports injuries were affecting my ability to enjoy life as I wanted to enjoy.
SP was recommended as a tool to take care of my life if I would use. I joined and looked at the site at least once a week. Finally I decided I would do better. Joined a couple teams and lost 150 pounds. My favorite team died out I had surgery that left me unable to exercise much but I did eat back 100 of those pounds I lost. I've now worn off 50 of those 100.

My Goals:
It is my goal to reach 250 pounds.

My Program:
Tracking everything I eat and drink and staying under 1900 calories a day. I plan to walk 2-4 miles a day 4 days a week.

Personal Information:
I live in east Arkansas on "The River" and am blessed to have the delta and Crowley's Ridge which provide unlimited outdoor activity and sports. Also, we have a great history created over the years and have Civil War sites recreated as well as original sites preserved. We have one of the largest Blues Festivals in the world. Always something great happening.

Other Information:
I always thought I would retire and my wife and I would hike and camp, sans Scouts, just the two of us, and I would write an article about the railroads in my home county. Physically we will have to work to be able to hike flat ground! I have a years worth of material gathered over 30 years to organize so I can write the article.

So strange CHF affects so many. When they told me my first words were a few times "but, I am only 62" there were others having this done (Well only 3 of us TY TY COVID normally they'd of been 6 to 8,,, hence why it took so LONG for me to get it done) it's still shocking. Some live for 20 years though that's by far the exception, some less than 5 years, but if we do all we can, hey it's a help and I certainly plan on that!! I NEED to cook stuff LOLOL I'll eat.

Rusty, I can see where a standing rolling walker would be so much better for posture. One of the things I've always disliked about walkers, and even canes in some cases, is that it doesn't allow a person to stand up nice and straight. Not good for the back, legs or any muscles for that matter. Hope you can get the vaccine soon! We got our first dose on Wed, which we were thrilled about.
