Over fifty and falling apart, I really need to be healthy again.

I find my weight is inhibiting my ability to garden and activities with my dogs.

I've worked very hard to be a writer and know that the next step is feeling strong and secure enough to go out into the world to promote my work.

My Goals:
I am an emotional eater with a volatile personality which can serve me well in my writing career when harnessed correctly.

It is my goal to learn to be healthy, to incorporate taking good care of myself into my daily life. I do not want to merely diet off the weight only to gain it back simply because I have not grasped the tools for living healthy.

I believe all the little steps we take make up the journey and I intend to learn and enjoy the process.

My Program:
At the moment, I am incorporating all the water I require. Small steps first. I want it to be second nature, nothing I have to think about.

Then I will add one more level to my process. I can already feel myself altering my eating patterns in the run of a day. Being mindful of what I eat and WHY! This is a good start.

Personal Information:
I'm an avid knitter, been doing it for over 40 years. Love the tactile feel of the fibers and keeping my hands busy. So far, I have not found a way to eat M&Ms while knitting!

I love gardening, flowers, veggies, all of it. I enjoy putting curb appeal on all my houses. Veggie gardening is great as it provides wonderful fresh produce for healthy eating.

Hey, Milinda! Way to go on the "proofreading" if you know what I mean! Not a spelling error in sight! LOL I read all your blog entries. You're making such great progress. I'm proud to call you "friend." Keep up with the walking as you can and remember not to "excuse" yourself too often because that is a slippery slope. I know. I "excused" myself Sunday night and Monday night so tonight I have to stay up late and exercise or I'm going to slip down that slippery slope myself. Have a great week! K

I am an emotional eater too. As I type this, I am realizing that this sabotoges all my efforts in my past. While I have known this for a long time, I haven't figued out how to get beyond this issue. I know that I am supposed to do something positive when I want to emotional eat however actually following through with this is so hard. Perhaps being able to type to others on this site may be one sort of positive thing to do but there has to be more. Any suggestions?

MIlinda! Your page is looking really good!!! Which dog was that puppy in your portrait image? You need some pictures of the four fabulous felines now. I'd love to see what they look like. I read your blogs. I can't wait to read your books because I still adore your writing style. It is my kind of writing. Keep up the great work! Kathy

    Hi Malinda,
So you're a writer. I personally think that's amazing in itself. I also wrote a book (not published) and would love to write another. I don't have to confidence needed to even look into publishing it...so if you're already at the point for promotions, I think you're doing great! I'm just entering into the "M" stage of life. My mom died young and once when I asked my grandma when she went through it, what to expect, etc...she said "Oh, explicative, I did it, I'm done and I'm glad." My granny really was a sweet little ole lady, she just had a way of telling things like they were! I loved that lady! At any rate...welcome. Maybe you can give me info on whether some of the things I'm experiencing are normal...like my joints hurting all of the time! Good Luck,
    Sharon
