Updated Jan 2020. while all this is still true, I didn't do great on maintenance and re-gain all my weight. So, I'm doing this for me. For my health, to have more fun with sports, to feel better and look great. It's a lifestyle change and I'm ready. I'm just going to be me.

I need to lose weight for the long term. I've had 2 hip replacements - one 17 years ago and one 5 years ago. I want to stay strong, fit and healthy for me and my awesome hips! I'm motivated and determined that I will succeed.

I need to get to my goal weight and I need to do much better at maintenance. Spark is great for keeping me self aware.

My Goals:
* Lose 35 pounds
* Walk daily - 3-5 miles at a time
* Eat healthy - most of all be in control
* Enjoy each day - savor everything I do and just enjoy.
* Keep with a daily exercise programs - especially strength training!
* Keep life in balance. Learn not to use food when stressed.

2020 Goals list
* Go on a hiking trip to national park or likes with elevation hiking. maybe in the NE US?
* Be a able to do 3 @ 1 minute planks (with side variations)
* Do 5 real push ups on the floor - this is a hard one. been trying - I need to work harder.
* Strengthen my left leg - really imbalanced now.


My Program:
Nutrition plan:
Balanced meals(mostly fish/chicken for protein); Veggies; Carbs; Cook in most days; try to limit restaurant eating;
(new) work hard at choosing well at restaurants. skip the bread & appetizers!
Be mindful of social drinking - 2x week max. (This is a tough one!)
!!!TRACK!! all foods eaten - EVERY DAY. Eat 5-7 veggies/fruits a day.
Minimize use of processed food - use sparingly, if at all.
Avoid alcoholic drinks, except Valentines, Anniversary, our Birthdays, Thanksgiving, Xmas & NYears.
Limit eating out at restaurants... when I do go out, manage portions & choices better.

Lose weight:
Jan 1 2020- Fresh start
Feb 1 2020 - lose 9 pounds.
Mar 1 2020 - lose 18 pounds total.
Apr 1 2020 - lose 27 pounds total
May 1 2020 - lose 35 pounds total (Goal)


EXERCISE Plan:
* Walk 15K steps a day
* Weight training 2x a week.
* Tennis 3-4x weeks
* Aerobic - 3x weeks.



Personal Information:
I'm 64, 5'9" and a retired. Married 40 years. No kids.


Other Information:
Stress is a hard one for me when I'm stressed - i want to get off my routine & eat randomly - in when I'm not hungry. When I'm not stressed - I love routine and do ok(generally). Find an alternative to food at stressful times.
I love sports - tennis, walking/hiking, biking, swimming, sailing, kayaking
I like reading, scrabble., cribbage, bridge, cooking, sunsets and wine.
I love to travel - especially to seaside areas and national parks.
