September 18th, 2008 I started on Sparkpeople. One year later I had lost 120 lbs.! Amazing yes? I thought so too and I thought each and every day that there was NO way I would let myself go back to being so heavy and unhealthy. After so much work? Are you kidding! Well I I am and I've gained back every pound I lost and then some. I am at my absolute heaviest ever, I am on high blood pressure meds now among other health ailments. How did this happen??? Let me tell you, it happened easily....too easily. De-nial is an amazing thing. BUT I've realized once again that I could sit in shame and guilt about it and keep on gaining weight or I could do something about it. One day at a time. Each day I can make a choice to keep on being so unhealthy or I can do something about it. I've had some false starts since gaining the weight back but I'll never give up. I've finally realized that until I fix the inside I'll never keep the outside fixed so thats my goal this work on the why. So wish me luck and here we go, here we go, here we go again! :)

START WEIGHT: 315 lbs.
Sept 18, 2008: 313 lbs. *Day I started with Sparks*
Oct 18, 2008: 292.6 (lost 20.4 lbs)
Nov 18, 2008: 277.8 (lost 14.8 lbs)
Dec 18, 2008: 265.4 (lost 12.4 lbs)
Jan 18, 2009: 255 (lost 10.4 lbs)
Feb 18, 2009: 242 (lost 13.0 lbs)
Mar 18, 2009: 234.6 (lost 7.4 lbs)
Apr 18, 2009: 225.2 (lost 9.4 lbs)
May 18, 2009: 216.2 (lost 9.0 lbs)
Jun 18, 2009: 209.2 (lost 7.0 lbs)

I didn't quite meet my goal of getting out of the 'obese' catagory by my one year anniversary but I DID lose 122.9 lbs in this past year and I feel SO much better!!

Planning out my meals each day before I eat and getting in exercise 3-5 times a week.

I'm Melissa, 45 yrs. old and I have two boys at home...16, and 5 yrs old!
I'm from Carson City, Nv. and I love it beautiful!

Other Information:
Love to read (mystery's mostly...Steven King, Dean Koontz. I love to cook (gotta learn some new ways to do that in a healthful way!)

10/10 Recently started back to school to finish up my degree and get certified as a medical assistant. I love it!!

04/2012: I finished my goal of getting my degree and my certification in medical assisting and phlebotomy. Yay me!

Finishing all my other goals...need to reach the most important one...getting healthy!

    Thanks for sharing your story. I have been there after going form 225 to 160-170 range. I even stayed at 180 for several years before I lost the last few pounds. Then I went on vacation and just kept saying, I'll get back to tracking and making healthy choices tomorrow. That was about 5 years ago, and I have gained back most of what I lost.

    I know that you can back on track and do it again. emoticon Remember to be kind to yourself because if you are too tough on your self it will be harder to take care of yourself. I try to think of it as when I quit smoking. I didn't fail the first several times I quit because I learned things that finally helped me quit for good over 10 years ago. You have learned some things along the way and you can do this again and keep it off :-D
