Next month we will have been an AZ for 5 years. I am still trying to become a successful gardener. Desert gardening is a 180 degree turn from the lush landscape and plants I have been familiar with. I have been guilty of planticide in trying to landscape my yard and garden. I even have managed to kill catus. We live at the base of Catalina mountains and I love looking at them in the different light and shadows during the day. There are many species of animals that we see in our yard. Gamble quail, roadrunners, white wing doves, humming birds, rabbits, hawks, lizards, coyotes, the neighborhood bobcat, and rattlers. We have had many challenges since we moved. Health, pool issues, house issues, money issues, deaths of family members just to list a few broad categories. I believe better times are still ahead. This was my post in 2016 I am updating my page as we moved from upstate NY to Tucson AZ. I am still unpacking and have yet to start back up finding a fitness center or exploring the facilities were we are renting. I will miss my team mates and friends in NYState. The information that follows was where I was and the wonderful support group that I left. I am competing as a team member with a great group of women. Our program is called Dare to Lose! There are some similarities to the biggest loser. We meet twice a week for 1 1/2 hours with our trainers, have challenges and weigh ins and are responsible for watching our food intake and exercising at least 2 more times a week. Each session is 8 weeks long so there is a mix of newcomers and those who have participated in earlier sessions. There is a lot of positive support from both the participants, trainers and other fitness center members. We are working hard at getting fit and losing weight.

Thank you for the comment, and yes we are really proud of out place. And we keep it up, even if it does take time, but hey, we have the time. And like my mother always said, "There is No excuse why things can't look nice, as it just take time and pride." As we drive around out in the country there are so many place that could use a bull dozer as no one has ever taken care of there place, and now it is all just a mess, and an eye sore. But it is getting harder every year to keep it up.

I need to go out and really try this brace out and actually see if it helps. And yes, the boys have a pool. Merlin uses it, that is when he isn't in the house, lol, He won't lay in it just stands in it, and I haven't seen Duke in for a couple years. He will walk down the road and get in the ditch that holds a lot of water. This morning when we went to town, I actually left the TV on and Merlin laying in front of the AC vent, and he was still in the same position as when we left. lol

Thanks for stopping by my blog! I was reading your info; I can imagine that desert gardening is as challenging as organic gardening in Florida!
