Introduction Text This page, my body, and my mind are all works in progress. November 2020!!!! Diet - Mostly Mediterranean - just trying to eat healthy Exercise - walking dog (average 3 miles day) Summer 2018 5% Challenge Diet - Basic Calorie Counting/Danette May (all in calorie range – limit gluten, sugar, & alcohol) 8 cups water (lemon, etc.) Exercise - Jump in with both feet - Join in the games - Have fun! Walk 3 to 5 miles daily Qigong/Tai Chi 1 hour twice weekly Swim/kayak 30 minutes weekly I have started a new diet, exercise, whatever so many times and yet I’m still not where I want to be. I end up quitting or cheating and giving up. I can do this. There is nothing and no one stopping me except myself. I have the time, money, and physical health to change so I better do it while I can. April 1, 2017 I struggle with how to introduce myself. It gets old saying the same old things. Especially when I’m trying to change many things in my life. I’m trying to determine what makes me happy, to move from a couple mentality to carving out a life of pleasure, health, and purpose for my remaining years. I’m female, 71 years old, widowed, and Mom to a very spoiled rescue Redbone Coonhound. I live in the South, on top of the Cumberland Plateau in a small, gated community and on a lake January 2017 - Turning loose of past sorrows and self defeating practices. Looking upward and forging ahead to a new and better life. November, 2014 I lost my husband at the end of January and am learning to pick up the pieces and make my life healthy and fulfilling. December 9, 2013 Going back to a mostly low fat vegetarian/vegan diet. I say mostly because I am not going to freak out over the occasional fish, meat, or fat. I won't make a habit of it. The low carb diet just didn't work for me. I didn't lose weight, didn't have more energy, and didn't have less joint stiffness. And I am working on the exercise. August 1, 2013 After losing over 22 pounds from the middle of March 2011 to August 2011 by eating a low fat vegan diet (Eat To Live). While not being 100% perfect, it was fairly easily and didn't find the lack of meat and dairy as hard as I had thought it would be. However, my cholesterol numbers jumped up dramatically and my doctor was unhappy. After a year and a half, I didn't really want to go without meat and dairy for the rest of my life and it is extremely difficult to maintain socially in this part of the country. So, I started having meat, dairy, and oil more often. Over the next year I gained 6 pounds back. Next I switched to eating a low-carb (Paleo type) diet and within two weeks my cholesterol number had dropped significantly. My doctor was happy, but the weight started back up. December 28, 2011 - I am proud of myself for the progress I have made in the last half of 2011. I have lost 22+ pounds by mostly following the Eat To Live plan and find it fairly easy to do. Now, I need to add muscle while losing 5 more pounds. I need to find an exercise plan that I will stick to the same way I found Eat To Live. Something I enjoy enough to do continuously. I need muscle strength to both look better and to relieve the back pain.

To lose pounds, build stamina, tone and strengthen core muscles.

I love my Redbone Coonhound rescue, photography, cooking, reading, the computer, kayaking, laughing with friends, and gardening (deer resistant gardening).
