Between these two photos are 365 days of tracking and portion control, over 10,000 minutes of exercise, three 5Ks, a 10K, and a sprint triathlon. New Year's Resolution 2017 was a success. Looking forward to 2018!#BeforeAndAfter

I am on a journey to improve myself - my health, my outlook, and my spirit. Looking to be a powerful role model for my sons!

I have discovered a love of racing to keep my motivation. I started from next to nothing fitness-wise in January 2017, and have now competed in several short course triathlons and running races, and even finished a half marathon. 2020 threw me off a bit (unsurprisingly) but I'm ready to get back on track!

My Goals:
1. Strength. I do weights as well as cardio. I'd love to bench press 100 lb someday!
2. Endurance. I just keep doing races -- it keeps me motivated! Olympic triathlon is my big goal.
3. Weight loss. Aiming for a "normal" BMI, or a weight of 140 or less.

My Program:
Diet: Track and portion! I aim for real, whole foods with no artificial sweeteners or weird substitutions. Lean protein, whole grains, lots of fruits and veggies, mostly cooked at home. Everything in moderation -- I don't believe in "forbidden" foods, but aim for quality over quantity!

Exercise: Minimum 30 minutes cardio 5-6 days per week and 15 minutes of lifting 2-3 days per week. Lately I've been squeezing in most of my workouts on my lunch break, but I'm still getting them in!

Hometown: Cleveland, OH

Hi There, I just wanted to stop by and say hello. I saw you post to a blog about 10 minutes of exercise, and that is where you started. So the first question in my mind is, "started, wonder where she is now?" I've enjoyed reading up on your journey as a runner. I'm walking that same road, although much closer to the starting line. Your progress is an encouragement to me. I recently finished the Spark Walk 5K Your Way challenge and can walk that distance. Now I'm in the much slower time of converting to a runner. A look at what you have done encourages me to not give up! Thanks....

I think they're a good thing. We all have labels that we wear with pride (or not), titles that mean something to us.

I started off so slow and took so long to ramp up. I thought with the occasional intervals I ran that that wasn't "really" running, and now the intervals have gotten longer and longer (though I haven't had time to push myself longer than 20 minutes at a time, because of work and family). I did have the thought that participating in a race would make me feel comfortable enough to actually claim that title... but, I have no desire to run around people. lol. It's my peaceful quiet time.
