In the past, I was always a yo-yo dieter. Lose 20 pounds with Jenny Craig, gain it back. Move on to Weight Watchers and lose 20 pounds, gain it back. Decide to try South Beach and lose 20 pounds, gain it back. Finally, a friend of mine at work mentioned SparkPeople to me, and I thought it sounded kind of intriguing, so I decided to give it a try. I'm loving it here! I've met some great people through the message boards and it is just super motivating to read the posts and blogs of others.

When I'm not reading all the writings of friends and authors on SP, I'm reading all the writings of my middle school students. I'm an 8th grade language arts teacher in an inclusion classroom that has a highly urban population. This often makes for a veeeeeerrrrry interesting day... but one thing I can honestly say is that my job never has a dull moment! My students definitely keep me on my toes. :)

Oh, and just a note about my shared food/fitness tracker: I try to add my meals/snacks in as soon as I can during the day to prevent myself from going over on my calories... so if you see that I have a breakfast and dinner listed, but no lunch, don't panic! It just means that I planned out the breakfast and dinner but wasn't sure what I wanted for lunch yet. As for the fitness tracker, my aerobics classes have strength training built into them (body bar, hand-held weights, resistance bands, core work, etc.) so I don't log it separately.

Fitness Minutes: 14,357

My Goals:
Started at 189 (highest weight) and trying to get down to around 120-125.

Hoping to get pregnant sometime in 2012 or 2013, so it would be nice if I could get to my goal or close to it by then to prevent any weight-related complications.

My Program:
* 1200 Calories a day
(trying to get in enough protein!)

* 8+ cups of water each day
(I bring my 32 oz water bottle to work and then refill it to bring to my aerobics classes)

* Exercise at least 30 minutes 5 days a week
(currently doing back to back Zumba and strength/toning classes 3x a week... each session is 1.5-2 hours long; I also play Dance Central 2 on XBox, go walking, or do various DVDs )

Other Information:
Grad school is DONE!!! As of December 24, 2011, I have my Masters in Reading and am a certified Reading Specialist. Thank you, SP friends, for putting up with me while I freaked out about research projects and comprehensive exams. :)
