Turning 40 in less than six months!
I am told that metabolism decreases dramatically at the age of 40. Also, I know that my risk for disease increases. I am specifically concerned about diabetes since I am high risk for this disease. I had gestational diabetes with my last pregnancy and took 4 insulin shots a day plus tested my sugar levels 4 times with the finger stick. I do NOT want to be back in that situation. HELP ME!

My Goals:
My goal weight is 135lbs.
My target date is 07/28/2011.
To reach my goal I must lose 1.5 lbs a week.
I want to work my way up to walking at least 10,000 steps per day.
My Program:
Basically I am reducing calories and increasing exercise. My weigh in day is Monday.
Personal Information:
I am 39 years old. I have three boys ages 18 , 15 and 2.
Other Information:
I never had a problem with weight until around 2001. I slowly went from 140 to 150 to now almost 200. Losing weight is important to me because I don''t want to develop the health problems that come with being overweight. Right now I can try to prevent getting diabetes, high blood pressure or having a heart attack. I plan to succeed in my weight loss.
