I would rather have 30 minutes of wonderful than a lifetime of nothing special.

Julia Roberts, Steel Magnolias

Now that I am officially over the hill, I decided that at least I don't have to look the part, so here I am, trying to show my bad habits some positive alternatives. Looking forward to this next chapter of my so called life.

My Goals:
When I started this journey I weighed 140 and so far I have lost 10 pounds. I would like to wear a size 6/7 by summer and stay there. Currently, I fluctuate between an 8/10. I'm short, barely 5ft. 2", so although a 10 may look fabulous on a tall person I look dumpy in it. Looking forward to rewarding myself with a mega shopping spree. Sometimes, I'll buy clothes because I have to but I don't enjoy clothes shopping anymore because I buy clothes that conceal my middle rather than clothes because I like them. Does that make sense? I want to buy an article of clothing that shows I have a waist line. That will be a victorious moment for me.

My Program:
I have a good friend who is a personal trainer, she is working with me and a group of friends during the week. I am a member of a gym near our home because it is where my husband wants to workout, but I don't like it. I use two items, a treadmill and the bike. The gym doesn't offer classes, if it did I would sign up for yoga or weight lifting. It wouldn't kill me to take aerobics except that I hate all that jumping around. I may buy some workout tapes but am not sure if I would honestly use them. I have a hard time getting motivated at home because I can always think of something else I could be doing instead. Also cutting back on what I eat, drinking lots of water, switched to splenda instead of sugar, fat free creamer, diet soda instead of regular, hoping all the small changes turn into big ones.

Personal Information:
I'm a Texan at heart but hang my hat elsewhere. I love the philosophy, Keep Austin Weird. I prefer a hole in the wall or a mom and pop place to a franchise anyday. I have lots of friends, all shapes, sizes. religions, ethnicity and prefer it that way, but my personal belief is that Jesus is a cool radical and I try to be kind to all and nonjudgemetal. If there is such thing as a conservative liberal that would be me. Makes my world spicy which is good because I love to cook. My favorite sport is special olympics because my son is an amazing athlete and he is so darn cute to watch. I also love the theater because my daughter is a thespian of the arts. I am like any other mother in the world. I think my kids are the smartest, cutest, most wonderful kids ever. I have become a pro photographer since they were born. I can't take enough pictures because I think everything they do is absolutely brilliant.

Other Information:
I have never met a coffee house or a bookstore I didn't like. I attend bookclub faithfully and have a few novels in my head that I wouldn't mind putting on paper someday. Other than that, I'm just your average girl next door. I enjoy hanging out with my friends and family and enjoying the simple things in life.

Thank you for stoppying by my blog. As long as we stay strong in our minds we can do anything. I'm so glad we are all working toward our final goal.

Your message on my blog speaks to my worst fear. I do not want to leave issues until they linger unresolved, too late to fix or deal with them. I appreciate your words because they come from experience. Admittedly I worry that in telling my father how I feel he will just anger me more. We used to play a little game where I would tell him my feelings and he would tell me that is not how I feel. I am afraid that if I do tell him what is going on inside that he will shut me down one more time. I'm not sure if I could take that again, but because of your words I may try. Maybe.
