I have been a member of Sparkpeople for a couple of years now and I am so happy to be a member of this community.

I have struggled with weight my entire life. I don't ever remember a time when I wasn't overweight. I yo-yo dieted for years and was never successful at losing weight and keeping it off. I have been living a healthy lifestyle for the past year but I have made the decision to have gastric RNY surgery to finally lose the weight for good! This was not an easy decision to make, but I have to do what I feel is right for ME and MY health. My surgery was 2/1/10. Unfortunately I experienced some serious complications but with God's grace, I am recovered and feeling better than ever!

I want to thank all of my wonderful SP friends from the bariatric sparkteams for being so willing to share their experiences, offer encouragement and listen! You guys have made this experience that much better!

I came across this on another member's blog and I just had to put it on my page because it speaks to the commitment that I have decided to make to myself this year:

Today I marry myself.

My Goals:
My goal is to lose weight, lower my high blood pressure and increase my overall health. I want live a healthy and active lifestyle.

My Program:
I track my food on SP and try not to go over my recommended daily caloric intake. I exercise 3 days per week. Increased my daily activity by walking back and forth to work, walking as much as possible. I eat more fresh fruit, vegetables and whole grains. I try to stay away from salt and sugar.

Personal Information:
I am 37 years old and I live and work in Bronx, NY. I am a program director and run a large community center that includes afterschool, sports and youth development programs.
