HELLO ALL,

WELCOME! to my Spark Page.

Come, sit down and have a cup of tea while we get to know each other!

Hope you enjoy your stay!

A New Beginning for the Fall season...

An injury to my knee and subsequent diagnosis with Osteoarthritis slowed my progress down to a snail pace a couple of years ago.
This fall I am back again and ready to start on a new program
of diet and exercise.
With God's help and the assistance of others on this health journey, I hope to make strides to getting my labs and weight back down to normal regardless of the barriers that appear.

My Goals:
Revised goals for 2019

To put God first in my life where He belongs and live my life the way He wants me to.
To get and be healthy.
To lose some weight and get my labs down before my next doctor appointment in March.
To start a new revitalized exercise program that includes an exercise routine at the gym.

My Program:
Continue to get at least 7-8 hours of sleep a night.

Exercise and nutrition commitment:
Keep to a heart healthy dietary regimen. I need to stay on a low sodium, low carb diet. Keep my calorie intake between 1200-1500 per day, and my sugar intake below 25mg./day.

Track my nutrition and exercise daily.
Do my stretching exercises for my knee every morning..
Start a new exercise routine that takes me to the gym at least twice a week.
Include other fun exercise activities to round out my week.

Personal Information:
My name is Sue.
I am 64years old and live in Washington State.
I have been married for 41years, have four adult sons and one adult daughter..
At last count our pets included two cats and two dogs.

Other Information:
My Mission Statement:

I am a child of God, made in His Image, who seeks to be more Christlike every day.
I desire to do the work God has set before me and to do that work I need to be healthy and strong.
I will achieve my goals through diet, exercise and a lifestyle change while seeking God each day, so I can become the person God has created me to be.

Mission verse:
Psalms 139:14a
I will give thanks to Thee, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.

Motivational quotes:

Deuteronomy 7:6: Of all the people on earth, the Lord your God has chosen you to be his own special treasure.

1 Corinthians 10:13
"No trial has overtaken you that is not faced by others. And God is faithful: He will not let you be tried beyond what you are able to bear, but with the trial will also provide a way out so that you may be able to endure it"

Sue- I am so proud of you for changing your diet and exercise to help your OA. I need to change to an anti inflammatory diet also. I have OA in my neck and RA elsewhere. First thing in the morning, I put Blu Emu pain cream on my neck and do neck exercises. You can look online for knee exercises to do. I have worn elastic support on my knees when inflammed. It took a few tries with different types to get the support that was comfortable and helped. Elevating your leg, ice, and rest can be helpful too. An epson salts bath can bring relief. I have also had fluid drained from my knees. Keep working with your doctor and trying things at home. I hope you find pain relief. emoticon

    Hi Sue,

Do you know SparkPeople has a Managing Arthritis Center? If you haven't already checked that out, you might go there for some other exercise ideas. You can get there by letting your cursor hover over the Articles & Videos tab, then scroll down to Health & Wellness. A new menu will open to the right, where you can select Arthritis - it is the 2nd option in that menu.

    I hope this helps you!

Thank you for the goodie. I enjoy your friendship. I know what it is like to not sleep due to pain, then taking a nap and not being able to sleep at night. It is like a vicious circle. The best advice I can give you is try not to let it get you down. Just remember that the good thing is that you don't have to get up and go to work. emoticon But I know sometimes it messes up the next day because you go to bed in the morning later n, or take a nap instead of being awake and doing things. I have been up al night today. I went to bed around 10:00 which is very early for me, However, I woke up around 2:00. The good thing is that this pattern is not from stress of any sort, it is the result of pain, and sometimes just being spiritually attacked. Messing up my sleep is an easy way for the devil to get at me. God always comes around and fixes my sleep pattern sooner or later, s I don't stress about it when it happens.

I will cal you next week and leave you a message here the day before I call. emoticon
