Overweight for the majority of my life, with numerous attempts at weight loss which only lasted for a short time, going through two pregnancies (resulting in two amazing and beautiful children), having a family history of obesity and related health problems... I decided it was more than time to make a real change with my health and lifestyle. I've lost, gained, lost, gained, wash, rinse, repeat... I turned 35 this year, and fully intend to do what it takes to see that I enjoy the hell out of what's left of my "Dirty Thirties!"

I've always loved volunteering, and participating in charity events. In 2006, I walked 60 miles in the Breast Cancer 3-Day, and another handful of miles in the Colon Cancer Walk and National Multiple Sclerosis Society Walk. I've never really let my size or lack of being in better shape stop me from going after something if I feel truly passionate about it. But because I did have difficulties keeping the kind of pace I'd have liked, and my knees provided constant reminders that they were lugging too much weight on top of them, I'm determined to get to a point where I can get back to what I enjoy, and push myself even further. You raise money for important causes, get a serious workout, and learn a lot about yourself in the process. Can't beat that!

I've found that one of the biggest keys to being successful at anything is having a solid network of support, and SparkPeople seems like an excellent place to find that. I admit that I signed up for this awhile ago, but let things fall by the wayside when I had my second child in 2007. Now that he's 3, I'm ready to dive right in and focus more on ME. I've wasted far too much time being fat and unhappy with that fact, but no more!

Feel free to send me a message, and/or add me to your list and I'll gladly do the same. Let's help each other reach our goals!

I deserve to live a long, happy, healthy life.

My kids deserve to have a mom who isn't stressed all the time, and who can practice what she preaches about the importance of healthy eating and exercise.

My husband deserves a wife who doesn't shy away from or dismiss genuine, loving compliments paid to her.

My friends deserve to see me instead of constantly getting lame excuses about not being able to hang out, as I hide away, ashamed of how I look.

My Goals:
To lose weight and live a longer, healthier life.

To participate in more charity fitness events.

To find ways to de-stress (that don't involve my old pals, Ben & Jerry)

To be able to shop anywhere for clothing.

To set a good example for my kids.

My Program:
Decreased caloric intake, focusing primarily on whole, unprocessed foods. And eating smaller portions of things I want so I don't feel deprived and risk binging, later.

Water, water, water! First and foremost, when thirsty.

Daily multi-vitamin and additional supplements as needed.

Increased activity in the form of walking, light jogging, walking more places and leaving the car at home, stairs vs the elevator, using my fitbit to motivate me to get more steps in.

Personal Information:
Living in Seattle, WA.

Married with two crazy-but-cute kids.

DETERMINED to shed this weight and let the real me finally reveal herself!

Other Information:
I love the outdoors, being by the water, charity events, geocaching, spending time with family, singing, photography, helping others, classic cars, learning new things and meeting new people.
