My desire is to be healthy and able to do all the things I want to do. Last April I was given the very unwelcome information that I have diabetes. My A1C was 6.7 and I weighed 235 pounds. I was put on a low dose of Metformin, but I didn't really take it very seriously, and by July, it had bumped up to 6.9. I did not want to go over 7.0, so at that point I had a serious wake up call. They upped my meds, and I started making better food choices.

Yesterday, at my diabetes care checkup, my total weight loss is 33 pounds and my A1C is now 6.1. My cholesterol level is normal. And I feel so much better!

I'm looking forward to continuing my progress.

Walk at least 10 minutes, 6 days a week, working up to a mile a day.
Strengthening exercises 3 days a week



Personal Information:
I live in Pelahatchie, Mississippi. I work for the State of Mississippi as an accountant, which means I sit all day. I love all forms of needlework, quilting, and knitting. I love to read horror and science fiction. These hobbies of mine mean I sit all evening when I get home. See a pattern? (Sigh)

I also play the djembe, which is an African hand drum. This is actually quite an upper body workout, so finally, a body healthy hobby!!
