I love the crepe myrtle trees. They bloom for 90 days. They brighten up my day.

Yes, it was so bad yesterday that I went out to water my plants, took a sniff, and went right back inside! It had cleared out by evening though, so I was able to take my after dinner walk. Otherwise I would have had to use my treadmill emoticon

Overall, it was still a nice day. I actually sort of expected it, being a summer weekend and so soon after things are opening up. But as my friend said, "It's not like we haven't been there before, and can't come again." It's only an hour from my house emoticon

They've closed 4 forests now and cancelled all of the fireworks. Both very smart moves. We're supposed to get some good rainshowers next week, helped out by a hurricane along the Mexican coast. Fingers crossed that will help.

Hi Linda, I just saved the Cyber cafe thread to my computer. I think I'm going to down load it and try to print out the past few years of posts. Did you know it's been going since 2012. It might be one of the longest active threads on the message boards. We've certainly had some good times on there.

I'm so surprised not to see more national coverage of these fires, too. We have more active fires than anywhere else in the country right now. I should be okay here. The Raphael fire started about 28 miles due south of me, but the winds have been blowing from from the SW, so it took the fire east of here. But communities just a few miles east of me are on alert to be ready to go, and a fairly long swath from south Flagstaff down to just north of Sedona are also on notice. The largest fire in the country is burning SE of Flagstaff and that one has caused evacuations of 2 towns. Four of our national forests are now closed or will close by the end of the week. It's a very scary fire season!
