Since having my second child I have been slowly gaining weight. I have been dealing with emotional issues that I may need help to figure out. I know what I need to do in order to lose weight, I just have to decide that I am worth it and put in the work.

At Christmastime, my husband took my daughter sledding for the first time. I stayed inside, too fat to fit in my snow pants and too out of shape to climb back up the hill. I don't want to be the mom that sits on the sidelines of life while I watch my husband play with our kids. I want to work on becoming an active family so that my children have something that I never have. An active lifestyle has always been what others do, but not me, I want to be the active parent who others look upon for inspiration!

Previous Information:

I thought that I had this whole weight loss thing under control. While living in Venezuela for 5 years, I discovered the South Beach Diet. It worked for me, I ate fresh food, walk to the store, and went dancing every weekend. I kept off 70 pounds that I lost..... I was still at 240 pounds, but I was happy with that.

Fast forward---- I returned to the states, no more fresh food, stores within walking distance, or weekend dancing. I spent a year eating junk while waiting for my husband's visa to be approved so he could join me here in the states. That was followed by lots of eating out at restaurants that were new to him and little exercise. Add 20 pounds.

In September, we added a baby girl to our family!! She has brought me such happiness, but also another 20 pounds.

Now is the time.... I will learn to eat right, try new foods, and make moving a priority. I want to go to the pool with my daughter and not be the "fat mom" sitting on the sideline while she has fun. I want her to grow up knowing how to eat and that exercise is important.

Spark people is a god sent..... It is getting me back on track and teaching me so much. Who knew that in one trip to the Olive Garden, I was consuming more calories than I need all day long.

My Goals:
I am working towards not being obese! I have a long way to go, but have set my first goal at 230 lbs. That is the least I have weighed since high school.

My Program:
I am tracking my calories and exercise. Weighing in weekly and drinking eight glasses of water a day.

I am a 36 year old mother of the cutest bilingual 3 year old on the planet, as well as a very precious baby who is working on crawling! I am married to the love of my life. I teach bilingual special education. I love my family and what I do. I want to lose weight and get healthy to make my life even better!
