After having three children (18, 22, 25) and two stepchildren (19, 22), I discovered myself pregnant again. I had a baby girl just 6 weeks shy of my 45 birthday and am ready to get myself back into shape so I can live long and health to enjoy this child! She weighed in at birth at a hefty 10 lbs. 6 ozs, but I'm a long way to losing what I had gained. So here I am!

As of today (9/20/06) I've lost 28 pounds by calculating my caloric needs and exercising. I discovered weight training, walking, the elliptical trainer, pilates and yoga. I developed and have kept an Excel spreadsheet "journal" of my calorie intake and expenditure. It's been great seeing the scales now, and I even enjoy trying on clothes. My bodyfat from July 10 to September 15 went from 30% to 23%. Yahoo!

My Goals:
I have three goals set. The first is the one I'm focused on: to lose 12 pounds by August 21. From there, 10 additional pounds by the end of October, and an additional 10 pounds by year''s end. Since starting this journey of changing my lifestyle habits, I''ve lost 10 pounds since June 18.

My Program:
Changing a particular lifestyle is never easy. Therefore, I joined the local YMCA to be around other people. I made an appointment with "Wellness Works," a fitness assessment and goal-setting program offered. I''m lifting weights (3 times a week), participating in a Pilates and Yoga class (twice a week), and tread water for 30-60 minutes 4-5 days a week.

Personal Information:
My husband and I live in Greenville, SC. We have six kids between us (his, hers, and ours). Ours is 9 months old. Mine are 18, 22 and 25. His are 19 and 22.

Other Information:
My hobbies and interests are reading (mystery fan), cooking, walking, swimming, knitting, needlework, and camping.

    Hi Carole,
    I'm so proud of you, you are doing so good. I started working full time and find that my time is very limited. I hardly get into SparkPeople, but I'm still trying to mannage a good eating habit. It is tougher, I've noticed, since I started working.
