My name is Holly ...
I am a 25 year old female looking to change my life. I am Canadian and I live in Vancouver BC. If anyone from Vancouver is reading this and you’re looking for a gym buddy or some support vice versa, feel free to email me. I love meeting new people!

So a piece of my story is this…

I have always had a strong interest in fitness, health and eating healthy. I use to be very active as I played soccer for m any years, took years of swimming and the list goes on. I remember seeing the scale say 118 lbs and I thought I was fat!!! I wish I could go back and smack myself for ever thinking that. Here I am now…sitting at staggering 215 lbs. I just sit here and shake my head as I write it out. I am only 5’1. I don’t want to say I have excuses for my weight but I have had a lot of tragedy in my life that didn’t exactly help. My father was murdered a few years ago, my sister passed away a couple years ago, my grandmother passed away a year ago. Its been tough, not going to lie. It might sound silly to some people but I would much rather deal with a weight problem due to stress, depression and issues that developed from the significant family tragedies verses becoming a person who struggles with drugs or alcohol instead. So in some sense, I feel proud that I was strong enough to get through these sad events. Aside from that, I found out I was hypothyroid in November 2010. It didn’t help. I was lazy, sluggish and tired all the time due to my untreated thyroid disorder. Its being treated now with medications so its all in order and my levels are perfect. I definitely feel a difference with that, so that’s good!

As far as trying to lose the weight; I have tried many things but fail to stick to it. I am an “all or nothing” kind of gal. I get frustrated easily and if I slip even the slightest, I beat myself up and I usually tend to just fall off track completely. I am currently trying the Dr Bernstein Diet. It is very structured and that’s just what I feel I need. You get a lot of support. You go in three times a week to do your weigh in and you get your vitamin shots when you go in as well. Some people don’t agree with the diet and some do. I will post my weight weekly every Friday…so if you care to see my progress. Please stop by my page!

    Lots of free time for working out is very helpful!

    -Be careful not to burn out, work hard but take rest days when your body wants them! Mix up your routine to prevent boredom and ruts, find a gym with lots of different teachers an class styles if you can.

    -Eat enough to support your activity level! Overexercise with undereating is bad for your health and can lead to binges later, your body will not react well if it is not nourished.

    -Be mindful of WHAT you eat not just calorie counts. A special k bar or jello might be low in calories compared to a banana but they lack nutrients, fiber, and nourishment. Go for the whole natural food every time. Your body processes it differently. I can eat a lot more calories of nourishing food and not gain weight/get bloated compared to when I eat junk.

    -Your goal is fabulous, work towards it with every ounce of your being but don't get discouraged if things happen along the way. Progress is still progress and you will get there.

    Hey! Here is a link to google books,
    smash+diet&spell=1&oi=spell, It gives you a list, the first 2 is dr Ian, the extreme one is the program I was talking about, it only gives you a preview, but the normal fat smash it gives you the whole thing! I had no idea it was online it is a surprise. I think I actually bought the book from walmart I am sure they have it at borders. let me know if you decide to do the program, I will organize my recipes!
