January 2014: And the surprises just keep coming! As of January 1, 2014 I am reitred! And I've lost 4 pounds! Think one has something to do with the other? I know it does. My stress level is way down and I'm eating 3 meals a day at home. Yeah!

September 2013: What year this is proving to be! I was back on track, lost 22 pounds, married a terrific man, got back to the gym, and then BOOM! I'm not sure exactly when it happened, but it did. I stopped tracking, skipped the gym and here I am again. Twelve of those 22 pounds are back. And so am I! I will banish those 12 and the next 30 once more.

My Goals:
Reach my goal weight of 160 pounds by April 30, 2014

Eat locally grown fresh produce as often as possible

Maintain my cholestorol and blood pressure at the current healthy levels

Reach and maintain a healthy BMI


My Program:
Weight training for 30 minutes and cardio for 30 minutes 3 times per week

Work in the yard 3 times a week

Track my diet and exercise daily

Write on my blog 3 times a week

AND ABOVE ALL ELSE ... Do not allow others to lure me off track



Personal Information:
Originally from Texas; have lived in Louisville, KY for 15 years.

December 2006, on my 59th birthday, I decided I wanted to be fit and healthy on my 60th birthday. I made that goal. In 2010 I lost my way. Now I will finish what I started and reach my final weight goal.


Other Information:
I am retired! Whoopee! (Dec 31, 2013)

Fall 2008 I treated myself to ballroom dance lessons. I love it! In 2010 a knee injury and weight gain forced me to stop dancing in March 2011. I will return.

    Ann,
    I'm interested in getting to know you better...we share a faith base, too!

    If you don't have time to answer this in the middle of your conference, I understand. Several other Presby. women, a wonderful 88 year old Episcopalian (who has survived 3 bouts of cancer!!) and I meet weekly for a faith-based study. We're in need a new book and need some suggestions. We have studied books of the Bible as well as books on prayer and other topics. It's helpful to us if there are discussion questions provided to foster discussion.

    Do you have a book or author you like to recommend? We'd welcome your input! Thanks and hope all is going swimmingly!

    I find travel a challenge too. I usually pack almonds for my snack. 15 almonds is 100 calories, so it's easy to keep track if I count them out ahead of time. If I eat them one by one, I'm usually starting to feel satisfied by the time I finish, and best of all they are very easily portable.

    Another nice feature is that they are pretty discrete. An apple or some other piece of fruit can be loud or messy. I can usually get away with eating my almonds in a seminar room without attracting any attention at all. If I take care of my snack before they bring out the pastries I'm in great shape to fend off temptation.

    I hope your sister is healing well, and that the Minneapolis trip goes well for you!
