emoticon I joined Sparks 11 1/2 yrs ago and never stopped. I was a horrible 214# and got down to 186# and kept it off, but couldn't seem to get the rest off. I'm 69 so I saw the Navy doctor who said "At your AGE, you can't expect to lose weight since you have Metabolic Syndrome." So, I had a blood sugar test that was 115 and he called me and said "You don't need to be on Metformin, since diabetes starts at 126." Well, I found an anti-aging doctor who is an endocrinologist and he said "He's right, diabetes starts at 126, but read the Metformin insert" and it said "If you might become a Type 2 diabetic, you can start the medicine now. So, I did , plus Armour Thyroid, (he says no one has the thyroid they had at 20 even at 30), Bydureon shot weekly, Acarbose with meals, Progesterone, (he says I don't want to take estrogen), Koncentrate K vitamin, Blood Pressure medicine (he says to stay on it as even at my goal weight, it will help my kidneys), and Phendimetrazine (diet pill). I'm down at 143# and no longer have night time cravings. i'm working to get the last 20# off.
I'd recommend find a good doctor who understands obesity.

Hi, I'm replying to your question on my before/after pics. I did a Body-for-Life challenge. It's an old challenge that's been around probably 10 years. I had success with it in 2011 when I got down to the 160s so I thought I'd give what has worked in the past a try. I already had the BFL book and the Eating for Life cookbook (which I really didn't follow this time, but did in 2011.

This time though, I found the BFL Success Journal (used but not written in) on amazon. Someone on the feed here at SP said they used a guided journal, so looking for that on amazon I found the Success Journal. That book was a great help. Now it is all used up and I miss it!

Best wishes to you on your journey. You can definitely reach your goals. You just have to write down what they are and what you need to do to get there. (learned that in that Success Journal emoticon )
