I've put off exercising and pulling this pony show around and I finally just need to buck down and start exercising and losing this weight. I don't have a real reason other than that I just want to.

I'm hoping this will keep me motivated because I have a problem with that.


I've lost 18 lbs since starting SparkPeople in December 2010. I feel pretty good about that number. I'm down about 4 sizes (on a good day). I look better than I did before and I feel better than I did.

I still have about 30 lbs to go, but I know it will come off. Life throws obstacles, but I manage to climb over them instead of sit down and eat a tub of ice cream, which would've been my previous answer to life's problems.

Not everything in my life is peachy, but I'm working towards being happy. I'm following my heart and avoiding living in people's dogma. I want to live life for myself and not for other people.

Also, I've gotten my mom involved in this circus. I had to move home and regroup, and while that has proved difficult in some instances (working to eat better when other people aren't and not having a gym or money to pay for one) I have overcome them and dragged my mom into getting healthy with me. She's lost inches and pounds and is a great motivator for me. More than I might've been for myself, honestly.

So that's where I'm at right now, working towards getting my life back on track (which is going to be a LONG and DIFFICULT journey) and keep on trucking with the weight loss.

It's been a year since I joined SparkPeople and with all of the help and support I found here, I lost a total of 23 lbs. in that time! That's AMAZING for me. I'm 5 lbs. away from being within the "normal" weight range and no longer "overweight" and only 20-25 lbs. before I'm at my goal range!

I'm excited for another year of Sparking as well as all of the new challenges and adventures in the coming year!

I love reading. I'm currently trying to reach a goal of 200 books for 2012 and perhaps a page goal, but we'll see. It's a new year and I'm just starting it so I'll take it as it comes.

I love movies: The Departed, The Town and The Wind That Shakes the Barley being a few favorites.
