When I first joined SparkPeople on December 4, 2007, I was so anxious to lose 20 pounds and be at 135 as a bridesmaid for my cousin's wedding in May of 2008...but the question was, after two years of eating disorders followed by four years of emotional eating and lack of a true exercise routine, could I do it??

The answer is YES! I did it! I weighed in at 135 pounds on March 15, all 20 pounds gone in just over three months! By May 10th, the day of the wedding, I was down another 5 pounds, happily plateauing at 130 pounds. Not only have I lost 25 pounds total, but I lost inches all around my body, including my stubborn hips and butt. I also gained the respect of many friends and especially my boyfriend, who was supportive like no other from day one. I went from a size 14 dress to a size 7/8 (the bridesmaid's dress was taken in by inches, and by the wedding day was still a bit loose!). I basically went from a size 10-12 pants to a size 4/6.

I started teaching full-time in the fall of 2008. Between teaching, photography, and grad classes at KU I had no time for exercise, and no extra money to buy a lot of pricey produce. On top of all of that I had to undergo a series of tests and surgeries when I had a breast cancer scare (which ended up being a false alarm, thank the Lord). Unfortunately, the stress of it all also led to emotional eating and I got back up to 140 pounds before waking up to the problem.

Brian proposed on December 31st, 2008 so I got motivated to lose weight while planning my wedding AND getting back into my size 4 dress! We've been married since August 1st, 2009 and so far I'm trying to do little bits of smart eating and fitness as much as I can while beginning life as a newlywed with a new job in a new state. I'll be okay!

01/04/12 - Wow. I am on here full time now. Every day. No excuses. I just weighed myself for the first time since my miscarriage #1 in August...and I've gained 30 pounds in less than 6 months. Unbelievable. So here I am. Ready to give myself to Spark People once again. I can do this now. Losing 5-10 pounds every month gets me back to 130 by summertime. I can and I WILL do this!

09/15/11 - Amazing...literally an entire year since my last update. Enough, Kimberly. Time to take control again. It's time. I need to get past the emotional turmoil I've been through the last year (losing a pregnancy, a job, and a grandfather in the last 12 months) and take control. I want to be a mother, and though my doctor says my lifestyle is actually pretty healthy and wouldn't have caused the miscarriage, I still don't want to enter into pregnancy weighing more than 145. Here I go!

09/14/10 - Well...It's with a sad heart that I report things have gotten bad for me. I've definitely let myself go, and I'm back up to nearly 150 pounds. That's what stress and a summer off (I'm a teacher) without discipline will do to me. So...I'm back on. I'm ready to get rid of these 20 pounds again, and to KEEP it off, because...were planning on starting a family! My hope is to be pregnant by September 1 of 2011. We'll see!

03/30/10 - We close on a house today! I've been getting lots of exercising packing and moving things around the apartment, but I am a bit stressed so who knows how I'll weigh in this week. Fingers crossed! I know my challenge team is behind me no matter what though!

12/15/09 - Still maintaining the lower 130s, so that's good. I can't wait to get past the holiday "splurge" season and get back on track. My goal is to win the Biggest Loser Challenge at work - I'll probably need to be at least down to 125 by the end of May!

11/7/09 - I'm happy to report I'm back on track - I weighed in at 132.8 for the Biggest Loser challenge at work this last Wednesday. I'm very excited! Oh, and we're house hunting!

9/9/09 - We've been super busy so sorry I haven't been on much, but I posted new wedding pictures, so enjoy!

8/15/09 - We're married! Whoohooo! We've been married for 2 weeks now and have been doing well! We had a very adventurous honeymoon including white-water rafting, hiking, and horseback riding - all up in the gorgeous mountains! Hopefully I can maintain this body now! haha...

I am a huge fan of Country music, including Rascal Flatts, Taylor Swift, Tim McGraw, and Faith Hill. My motto is I am Third, and my favorite quote is "The greatest thing you can give is a smile."

Welcome back! I need to update my page, but if you read my blog you'll see why you'll see more of me on this site as well. I am not quite sure on the exercising part of all of this yet until I talk to my Dr., but I am going to be making sure I log my food and make sure I take my daily medications. We can do this! I am currently at 146.2 and I want to be - scratch that - I *WILL BE* getting to 125.
