***Update, 3/7/2011****
I have been off Sparkpeople consistently for a few years now. I never got to my goal weight of 130 and after living pretty comfortably at 140 for 3 years, I don't think I will ever get to that weight and still enjoy life! I enjoy food waay too much :). Regardless, my weight has crept back up to 151! Yikes!! All of my clothes that I bought and new suites aren't fitting very well ANND, now I have a wedding to get ready for! I really will never have to look better on any day of my life - so hopefully, that will be sufficient motivation to start making everyday count! I want to look and feel better and make my way back down to a happier, healthier me!

***Update, 1/20/2008***
I've lost 25 lbs. w/ Sparkpeople in the last 9 months. My goal is to lose 12.5 more and be at my "permanent" weight of 130 lbs by May 15, 2008. I'm excited to be in this position for myself. Thank you all and I look forward to continually enjoying your support in this endeavor...

****UPDATE*****
I've currently lost 20 lbs. w/ SparkPeople and feel a lot better about myself, my energy, the way I look and the way I feel. Thank you all for sooo much help, I couldn't have done this w/o you! It's been a bumpy ride and I am sure that these next 11 lbs. will be the toughest, but I know I can do it with all of my wonderful friends at SP helping. I've been steadily working on this since April 1, 2007 with a 6 week hiatus in July/August due to my last month with some dear friends before I moved away for LAW SCHOOL. I DID gain back 4 lbs in those 6 wks, but they've since been shed and those memories were well worth it!
So now, I'm in Seattle in my first semester at law school and determined to continue to make my health a priority. Thank you again and good luck to everyone with continuing this journey!

I'm a recent college graduate who has put on about 18 pounds in the last 4.5 years...most of it coming during the senior year party blitz! After a bad break up in college, I dropped to 141 lbs and it felt great...the thinnest I've been since sophomore year of high school. Then, from jr - sr of college, I drank and ate my way all the way up to 166.5, the heaviest and most unhealthy I've ever been in my life! It was after a Memorial Weekend binge where I accidentally (kind of) drank 39 Bud Lights in one day...I realized after that I needed to make a change, ASAP! So far, it's been a long off and on process where I can't seem to get my footing fully. Just by cutting back on my overt excesses, I was able to drop down to 161. But, it has already been another year of my life and I still am insecure about the way I look with my weight. I am not looking to become some bombshell or set unrealistic goals, I just want my old favorite clothes to fit and be comfortable in my own skin. As I am right now, I'm constantly trying to hide my flab and stomach mostly (I went from 4-pack to keg) and I just hate the feeling of always turning down hot tub nights, trips to the lake and laying out just to tan because of my insecurities. I feel like I'm missing out and I want to take control of that part of my life. I've applied to grad school in the fall and I want to enter a newer and more confident person.

Personal Information:
I'm a 24 college grad from Oregon (where OBBD (Oregon Big Butt Disease) runs rampant). I like to knit, I love kitties, I listen to music all the time and love hanging out with my friends. I frequent complicated relationships due to the fact that I'm insecure with myself and tend to project my insecurities as distrust. I want to be confident!

Other Information:
My biggest problems in weight loss:

- Social situations: everyone around me seems to have unbelievable metabolism. They eat when and what they want and still could pose for Sports Illustrated (many of them are collegiate athletes). Unfortunately, i can't do that and maintain a good figure.

- Beer. Yeah, I like it.

- Motivation to workout. It's a love/hate relationship.

    Kelsea,

Thanks! You did really great, too. I think I'm going to take a month off from the challenges for now. I'm still going to be monitoring my calories and drinking my water, but I just had a minor surgery yesterday and I have a two week recovery time. So Doctor's orders, I can't exercise for atleast two weeks.

But you keep up the great work. And if you need any encouragement, I'll definately be here for support. Just think, you only have about 20 lbs left! It took me about 2 and half months to lose slightly less than that. Keep your eyes on the prize. BTW, how's the cardio coming along? Have you tried breaking it up? I'm trying to get out of my Shapes membership b/c my hubby wants to work out with me now and we can get a membership to the YMCA for the same cost.

    Have a great week!

    Hey Girl!

I did pretty good. I ate w/n my ranges on Sat and went out drinking and dancing with the girls. I only had about 4 drinks, but we know the bartender and I think she was making them a little strong. But I had an awesome time and met a ton of new people. And the best part, I was able to fit into a dress I hadn't worn in 6 years! Ofcourse, the next day I was too tired to cook (and my feet hurt from dancing/walking in 5 inch heels for about 8 hours) so we went to village inn and I was bad. I had 4 jalapeno poppers and half a chicken portabello sandwich and onion rings. But it was sooooo good :-) Unfortunantly I'm not used to all that greasy food anymore and my stomach was aweful the rest of the day (if you've seen that movie Super-Size Me, that scene where he ate his first supersized meal in his car and was paying the price - that was me yesterday) All in all, I don't think I did too bad over the weekend. The most important thing was that I had a great time hanging out with friends and I haven't done that in a while!

Unfortunantly for me, I went to the doctor today and I can't do any cardio for a week or so. So I'm just going to have to watch what I eat even more and not be too unhappy if the scale doesn't move. After all, this is life and these things happen.

But you keep up the great work and I'll still be signing on here despite my fitness break. So if you need me, let me know! Happy Monday!!

    Kelsea,

Just a little weekend encouragement. Change the things you can and don't worry about the things you can't. Have fun, go out, but be prepared. Most restaurants have nutritional info on the net, so just look it up before you go. Or stay away from key words like "creamy" and have your server bring out a half portion and box the rest. I usually try to stay around 1050 calories on the days that I drink (when I drink - I drink!- I'm Irish and German, what more can I say?) Plus we all need a break every once in while. Just remember the key word - Moderation! You'll do just fine. And try to not be too stressed out with all those finals (like I'm sure you can avoid it :-)

    Have a great weekend!
