I am an avid reader, a movie addict, who loves good music, sitting out on the deck with a book in hand / watching the furballs at play in the yard and spending time just enjoying the peace and quiet of 'alone' time.

I have 4 great (adult) kids, 4 grandkids, 4 beautiful Collies, and OOPS almost forgot.... 1 spouse.

After getting over an infection that almost cost me both lower legs in 2001 -2002 and the nearly 3 years of enforced bed rest that went with it, my older daughter dragged me kicking and screaming - well, maybe not screaming; I didn't have the breath to scream... - out to a weight watchers meeting where I was horrified to learn my actual weight . I lost 93 lbs while on their program, only re-gaining about 20 of it.

It's definitely a slow, laborious process, but one that I want to keep plugging away at inch by inch if I have to....

I've owned (or been owned by.....), bred / trained / shown Rough Collies for 26 years, but have pretty much decided I probably won't be doing any more breeding. We have titled / competed in a variety of events - Conformation, Obedience, Herding, Carting, Lure-Coursing, etc. BUT Obedience is my first love, and am just getting into Rally. I do all the doggy stuff with Meaganne, my youngest child.

June 2012

Well, decided that it is probably about time I update my information, since it's been nearly 3 years since I wrote my introduction....

I still have the same 4 offspring - couldn't sell nary a single one of them! LOL
I still have the same 4 grandkids - some are getting cuter, and some are hormonal teens now... so not quite so cute as the little ones.
Most importantly to me, though, was the miracle of our precious new granddaughter who arrived November 28 2011 - after nearly 10 years in the 'making'. Her story is in the blog I wrote on Dec. 01 /11. She is such a special gift of love for our family, and her Mommy - my oldest daughter.

I still have several of my beautiful Rough Collies, but had to let my very, very special boy, "Lucky" go to The Rainbow Bridge very unexpectedly in January 2009, so have nothing left of the bloodlines I spent nearly 30 years on. We still have 3 furballs , but they are all from another breeder.

And, oops almost forgot him again.... still have the same spouse - considerably greyer, slightly balder, somewhat rounder in the belly, and getting older by the minute.....

My Goals:
To get off the couch in front of the tv / out of the chair in front of the computer more often.

Try to actually get out for walks with the dogs instead of just thinking about doing it!

Getting my sugar and cholesterol levels down.

Remembering to eat more than once per day.

My Program:
I try to be sensible - doesn't always work well....

Weight Watchers worked well for me before, and I still have all their material, so that is what I'm trying to get back on the 'straight and narrow' with.

Personal Information:
I live in London, Ontario (Canada).

Three of my kidlets live in London - one is an Elementary School Teacher, one is a Manager for a large chain of better quality restaurants, and the youngest is an unemployed University graduate who is the only offspring still at home.

The 2nd youngest moved to the USA in 2006 to do his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering at the University of Minnesota (Minneapolis), and now works as a Senior Research Engineer for a major International firm in Minneapolis / St. Paul, so we only see him just for a day or two at Christmas time. I surely wish it was more often!!

I love having the whole family together for a meal, especially at holiday times.
Both of my daughters and I are all a little Christmas obsessed so the boys tell us, but we don't think so!

Other Information:
I love the Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings series - both the book and the movies as well.

Diana Gabaldon, Iris Johansen, and Nora Roberts are 3 of my other favourite authors.

Love the BeeGees, Elton John, Celine Dion, Josh Groban and pretty much ANY Christmas music

I can so agree with you on the sleeping, at 2:30 am it smelt like someone was smoking a cigar at the foot of my bed. Nope no one was there...strange though. after that i just could not lay down or still. So up i have been since then...Its really stating to make me question my sanity a little bit...But i will overcome it i am sure.'

Morning Kathy, 4:30 am and have already been up for about a hour now...woke up in a fit of gasping for air, maybe it was the dream of not catching my breathe doing it huh...didn't fall asleep till after 1am. Really starting to suck i have to wait so long. But i will hold my tongue...hahahahahaha With Nick I will be say good bye, I feel that is when you know you wont be seeing that person ever again as in death...I have said good bye to a bunch of friends I was in the Arny with. While he was home we set up a Skype account on my laptop and my cellphone so if we get to stir crazy about seeing him we can just Skype him... Now ryan is another thing its been almost a year since we have talked. march 23rd . Kinda funny thought, it seems like every bad thing that happens to us it falls on a birthday or a death day...Ryan got married on my ex-wife's birthday....yea huh how crazy it that..like they were trying to rile my feathers....but the 23rd is the day my oldest sister died from cancer more than 7 years ago....but i will continue to go on with my daily duties knowing that i have done nothing wrong to those kids....well the coffee done brewing and Scruffie and Missie are looking at me with eyeballs that only say one thing....Hurry please....have a great day my friend...hugs and love.. emoticon

Hi Kathy! Thank you so much for your thoughts of my friend Ted. I haven't heard anything yet and it's got me down. My other friend, Jim, who lives down in Florida has been in contact with Ted's wife but wasn't able to get hold of her the last two days. And today Jim had to fly his plane over to a prospective buyer who wanted to see it, so I haven't heard from him today at all. It is driving me nuts. I've never met Ted's wife so I feel kind of strange bothering her at the hospital. So I will wait for Jim to call and bite my nails till then. I just hope that no news means he is on the mend.
We wound up with around 10" of snow on Friday and today it is all but gone! It was beautiful out today. Supposed to get warmer as we get into the new week.
Wow you've been busy with birthdays! Wish everyone a happy one for me! Mike's Mom is a year older than my Mom. She just turned 87 in January.
Hope Phoenix is feeling better! Have a great Sunday! Big big hugs! emoticon emoticon

    Hey Kathy;
Thanks for stopping by and reading my rant...I know what you mean going without sleep. When i was stationed in Germany in the early 80's, we would go on maneuvers for threee days and then come back to our barrack. We would stay up on getting two hour a sleep at a time cause we would have to post a guard to look and listen for the 'bad guys" of cause that was 30 years ago...funny how that just make you feel awfully old real quick...
I dont know what it was with the animals today but they were on a tear, all of them...Casper would not leave Abby the pit bull our friend has,, and is deathly afraid of Casper, and will run if Casper walks into the room and if its the hallway and no rooms are open she will put her snot in the corner and lay down....funny as all get out to watch..Missie runs from him when he is on the hunt, straight to me if she can ....Scruffier just shrugs his attacks off or he doesnt get the full attack cause they grew up together...it was like they had all got into the candy jar and ate to much and was all strung out...hahahahahaha
Well i am gonna go and try to go to sleep. hugs and love to all in your abode...
