A friend suggested the following motto for me (I think it fits):

"I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult."

— E.B. White

-If I can't get off my duff at 45 and be active, what will 80 look like for me?

-If I determine one change that needs to be made in my life today, and I endeavor to make that change, then I will go to sleep tonight a better person than I was this morning.

-I love how I feel when I take care of myself. I want to feel that every day of my life.

-There is no destination for this journey. I thought I was "THERE" when I lost 60 pounds five years ago. I was wrong. When I got sick the scenery changed and so did I. I struggled for a long time not understanding what was going on. Now I realize; I've turned the corner toward another destination.

-I'm learning to enjoy the journey; although, I do sometimes contemplate where the latest road is taking me.

-It's not "one day at a time," it's "one choice at a time." To be successful, I have to make each choice as well as I can. If I screw up, then it's on to the next choice. No looking back. I don't need to lose the whole day of efforts just because I made one mistake.

-Life is sweet; friends are what add the flavor. Thank you friends!

" Seek out that particular mental attribute which makes you feel most deeply and vitally alive, along with which comes the inner voice which says, This is the real me, and when you have found that attitude, follow it. "

- William James

"According to my watch, the time is now
The past is dead and gone
Don't try to explain it, just bow your head
Breathe in, breathe out, move on"

"It ain't brave if it ain't scary."

How I Got to SparkPeople
I've been overweight my whole life. I was never average sized.
Five years ago, I weighed 200 pounds. I was always tired and lacking energy. Life was passing me by because I was too fatigued to join the parade. I'm not sure what changed or even why, but I woke up one day and decided I'd had enough. I joined the local Weight Watchers group and became dedicated to a new lifestyle and healthy eating. Six months later, I weighed 145 pounds and was a lifetime member.

Not only was I considerably smaller, but I was healthy! I had energy to be the active person I had wanted to become. My newfound activity level helped me to easily lose six more pounds and keep it off.

Then, in the fall of 2006, I had back to back surgeries that were in themselves just minor procedures, but I developed Toxic Shock Syndrome and my entire body went into a tail spin. It was a close call and I was off my feet for six weeks on intravenous antibiotics. (Luckily two of those weeks were at home.) By that time I had lost a great deal of the muscle tone I had worked so hard to gain, and with it, my energy. Over the course of the next year, I struggled to regain my mental and physical strength, but continued to lose muscle tone as I was struggling just to do cardio and not strength training. It's been a long slow recovery, but I'm finally back to a point where I believe I can take off these last few pounds and begin to build back muscle and gain strength. I miss that energy level!

Time to renew the passion for health and fitness. One day at a time.
