The Grand Canyon truly cannot be properly described - it must be seen in person.

Slow and steady wins the race!

We blasted like a emoticon at the starting line this week, but emoticon will tell if we can keep motivated and determined throughout the emoticon challenge.

Keep up the good work! We can do it!

We visited the Grand Canyon and the desert in July, and I've said both of your captions. :) I would love to be back there right now! I'm looking forward to getting to know you as a Determined Desert Tortoise.

When I had my turnaroud, I vowed that I would NOT aim at a certain weight or appearance. I also started very clear knowing that it takes about five years to get good enough at the new habits that relapse is down to 25%. I never thought of my plateaus or slips as the end of the line . Not now , either! My mentor says there is no such thing as before and after, only before and during. I'm 6.5 years in. I never did anything "just until I lose the weight," so there's been no huge struggle with how to stop losing and live in maintenance. Life is still a challenge for me, but I eat over it as an exception, not the default now. Eating better hasn't made everything hunky dory, but it's still worth the effort.

So I assume you are on the "5 years+" plan now, too, about two years into it? Just keep going! emoticon
