(2012) I'm joining SparkPeople to learn to loose weight and keep it off, and to get fit. And what an unexpected journey it has turned in to.

(Aug 2016) I haven't been actively using the Spark pages lately. I hit a plateau, then in early 2014 I added on weight, and plateaued again, and at the end of 2015 I added on more weight. So here I am, starting to think about my health, again; starting to lose weight, again; starting to use Spark People, again; starting over AGAIN.

Fitness Minutes: 35,065

My Goals:
April 2013: 30-40 more lbs. to go. As many have said, this last half of weight loss is proving much more difficult than the 1st half.

Aug 2016: A Spark Coach visualization asked us to imagine 'measuring' health and fitness without using a scale. I liked what I visualized -- the 'weight' didn't matter; my 'size' didn't matter. In my imagination I was fit, active, and healthy. That image -- that's my goal.

So, how do I turn this ultimate goal into one or more S.M.A.R.T. goals? I'm still working on that... I'll have to get back to you.


My Program:
Half-way there, and I find I eat different foods in different amounts. Some days I crave eating the old way, but I'm now aware that I feel better when I stay 'with the program' (within the calorie range).

Aug 2016: Just went through a period of being 'sick' because of the foods I was eating. It was a wake up call. I can choose to eat those foods, but I will pay a price physically. Starting with small changes (reducing the breads and foods that cause me to feel bad), and I'm feeling the difference. This encourages me to continue these changes, and make bigger changes.



Personal Information:
At my highest weight, I was 212. I was able to come down to 180, then gained back up to 193. I'm determined that this is the last time I will gain back the weight.

Aug 2016: I eventually made it down to 165. Then plateaued, then gained and plateaued there, then gained some more, and was back over 180. I'm now at 175, and starting over again.


Other Information:
My favorite books tend to be cozy mystery/suspense series with strong female heroines.

I enjoy crocheting, and have recently tackled cross-stitching.

I love to garden, but definitely have a brown thumb. The gardening turns out to be more for exercise than for food.

    Thanks for your comments on my Sparkpage. I, too, have sort of reached the upper limits of my plateau. Been too busy with everything going on these past couple of weeks to even try to do the daily challenges... think I'm still on Day 17 when I should be finished by now. But I'm giving myself permission to slow down on my weight loss targets and just try to hold where I am until the new year if possible. One baby step at a time... we can do it!
