Update on May 5, 2020. I updated what I wrote below (January 1, 2019) yesterday but guess I forgot to save. I am now at 162 pounds but I still commit to getting to 147 pounds safely and reasonably. Which according to the ticker won't happen until August of 2020. My purpose is to make that happen (as well as staying safe, not infecting anyone else and eventually making it back to Ireland.)

Today, January 1, 2019, I read what I wrote a year ago, saved below. Although I didn't get to 140 pounds, I did get to 147 and lost 3.5 inches on my hips. Which is great. Unfortunately, I lost the weight through being sick. And I still don't know if I am completely well yet although the appetite has returned and I can exercise with minimal discomfort. So, today, January 1, 2019, I commit to exercising daily and if not actually recording calories on SparkPeople, at least being aware of them on a daily basis.

"Ten years ago, aged 55, I weighed 136 pounds and worried about my weight and fitness. Ten years later, Dec 28, 2017, I weigh 166 pounds and was horrified. I am 3 pounds away from obesity! It is beyond frustrating to think I can't wave a magic wand and go back 10 years but it just doesn't happen. I programmed in 140 pounds as my desired goal--that would achieve a healthy BMI) and 1.5 pounds per week. That means that I could be at 140 pounds by April 28, 2018. One can only work diligently toward that goal, right? The formula is still the same:
1) Exercise at least 45 minutes a day, 6 days a week, as well as walk sufficient steps to total 10,000.
2) Follow healthy eating plan, counting and recording calories, daily."
