Introduction Text Hi fellow sparkers! I'm a 41 year old computer technician living in Sedalia, MO. After a small health scare and our desire to have kids, I finally got serious about solving the weight problem I have carried with me for 20 years. *Update, June 2007: I have reached my goal weight and am now in maintenance mode. Total weight lost: about 120 lbs! *Update, January 2010: I put some weight back. I won't make excuses. I screwed up, but am serious again. I must be a positive influence for my son by leading a healthy life. So, today I am at 234 lbs, and will get down to a doctor-mandated 210 by October, 2010. * Update, January 2011. A year later, I'm still in the mid to upper 230s. My goal is to get back to 190-200 lbs, and stay there. I realized that I couldn't take Sparkpeople off my list of daily tasks. It is essential for me to stay honest! * Update, March, 2015. I have quickly learned that I need to keep active on Sparkpeople, and that graduate school and fatherhood make it extremely difficult to keep up. Currently at about 260, and realized that enough is enough. I have worked too hard to go back to where I was before. Onward and upward!

After losing nearly 120 pounds, I put about 45 back, so I need to get motivated again! For those who see this, the tools available here at Sparkpeople are essential in losing and keeping off the weight.

To lose the weight, I completely overhauled my diet/exercise regimen. First, I actually exercised. Secondly, I eliminated bad foods from my diet completely or limited myself to extremely small servings. I counted every calorie and every bit of fat/saturated fat, protein, fiber, and cholesterol that passed my lips.

Originally from the St. Louis area (Go Cardinals!) and now living in Warrensburg, Missouri. I work at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg and am married to Kelly, who is also here on SparkPeople.

I am a movie and music fanatic. These preferences are many and varied and there are just too many to list here, though my favorite musical group is the Beatles.
