I will admit it - I am an emotional eater. And it’s not that negative emotions always make me want to eat, it’s the happy ones too. I like to celebrate with food, mourn with food, and bond over food. Honestly, I'm not sure if that is something I can change.

But what I CAN change, are the choices of what I eat and how much I eat. That will be my first step, at least.

I used to think that dieting didn't work for me. I thought (as I'm sure many people do) that the formulas don't quite work for me since losing weight has always been difficult. That was until I got pregnant. I didn't have morning sickness, but I couldn't eat as much as usual. That lead to not losing weight, but not gaining too much either. After my daughter was born, I quickly lost 30lbs because I kept my portions small. Then I got sick, and basically couldn't eat for a week while I was in the hospital - and I lost about 15lbs! Not a healthy way, for sure, but it certainly put some holes in my theory that I couldn't lose weight.

Since then, I've gone back to my old ways, and am pretty much back where I started before I became pregnant. So… I am back on SparkPeople, trying to find a way to be motivated and fill my emotional needs in another way. I want to be, and stay, healthy, for my future, and for my family.
