I started life out as this pudgy little girl. Adults loved my long eyelashes and my chubby cheeks. Kids on the other hand can be mean in grade school and I was once called a "steamroller". Middle school and high school no boys wanted to go out with the fat girl. I had lots of girl friends that would like to tell me that I wasn't fat, just big boned. My mom said I was solid. I played softball and volley ball in high school. I could run a mile in 8-9 min. Now it takes me 30 min to walk it. I always new as a teen that I could be thinner but I was comfortable with myself most of the time. I still felt like I could look in the mirror and say I like what I seen.

I started having children at the early age of 18. I have four now and with every baby I stacked on another 20 to 30 pounds. In between each one I would try to lose the weight gained, only to fail or just give up. When I was about 30 I found out that I had a thyroid problem. The kind that makes your metabolism slow. Medicine was the answer to all my problems right? Take a pill, metabolism goes faster, Jen loses weight. Well that was too good to be true. So here I am back at it again. I love my children to death but honestly, I am DONE having children. I am DONE being the fat girl they people say has a pretty FACE. I want a pretty body too. I am not asking to be perfect and I know I will never be "skinny", but I do know I want to be a healthier me. I want to move with out hurting or grunting or getting tired. It is time that I start looking out for me and I want to teach my kids that eating good and being active isn't just for fat people.

I have seriously been getting online and blogging and reading and tracking for a few months now. I have lost 18 pounds and I believe this is working. I can see it on the scale. Some people do not believe in the scale but I can see it there and I need to see it. I am so happy to have found this web site and the people here are awesome! I tell everyone about Spark People. I tell them to check it out. I tell them its FREE! I tell them that it is helping me and can help them too.

It has taken me 16 years to put on the weight and I know this weight loss is not going to happen over night. Day by Day, sometimes hour by hour I am working towards my goal and changing my life for good.
