Hey y'all, I am Jennifer. I have hopes to be more healthy and active this year. I live, and have lived, in Utah my whole life. I work, work and go to school. I know I will accomplish the goals that I set...AND MORE! Because it is healthy for me. I have so many things in life to look forward to (most that I haven't even encountered yet) and I WILL be ready for them. 3/2/11 - Going to see a doctor on Friday to tell me more about me. I know diet and exercise should get me where I need to be, but I have been struggling, In fact gaining weight. He will check my metabolic rate and design a nutrition plan for me. I fell a little lost becuase I feel like this is something I should be able to do by myself, but seem to be losing the battle. Crossing my fingers for Friday. I am excited to be restarting my journey of losing weight. I am trying to get down to a healthier weight because I plan on becoming pregnant in July-ish. 1/12/10 UPDATES! I have signed up for several exercise classes as well as some challenges on this board. I have an awesome spark"buddy" who is helping me stay accountable on my journey. I have been using my Wii EA sports active game and am just beginning the 30 day challenge. Let's see what difference a month can make shall we! 3/11/10 Updates: Well, those classes didn't exactly pan out did they? Oh well, My spark"buddy" is the best thing that has happened to me for a while on this site. She has been very supportive and challenging. I have been puying more healthy food options when I go to the store and I have been working out a little more consistently. We will see how long this consistency lasts. I am thinking this one will be my driving force. I have posted my visual motivators and feel very strongly about the cause. for more info, feel free to read one of my blogs. 7/4/10 I have made small progresses. I was able to lose about 8 pounds using Weight Watchers, but gained it back while still on the program. I am having a hard time tracking my food (accountability is a huge issue for me). I no longer have my buddy, I hope that she is ok, and that everything is giong well for her. I heard that they had some weather issues where she was from, but I also know that she was about to move, so I will hope it is the later that has caused her to be gone. I borrowed a Vitamix from family members and have been drinking a health smoothie on most days, my weight seems to have gone down, but truth be told, I have not been weighing myself consistently.. I am more focused on how I have been feeling. I have made some silly concoctions with this super-blender: 1) grapes, kale, orange, pear, a few strawberries = green 2) grapes, tomato, banana, pineapple, kale, strawberries(frozen), plain greek yogurt = brown 3) grapes, tomato, banana, pineapple, grapefruit, kale, blackberry yogurt, few mixed berries(frozen) = brownish green Most of these are fruits which contain sugars, but I feel that if I keep making them I will continually add more veggies in. Besides fruits are good for you, I just have to make sure I track accordingly. These shakes have tasted well for the most part. And I know I am getting vitamin C for sure ;) I need to ramp up my exercise. It has been a huge area that I have been slacking in. I just need to bite the big one and EXERCISE!! It really isn't that hard, but for some reason, my mind always overpowers and I do something else instead. Joe and I got a raft/boat recently and have taken it on a couple of lakes, it really helps with upper body strength, so we just need to keep that up, especially with the marvelous summer we have going on.

    Hi there! I saw a post you made on one of the message boards and saw that your weight loss goals were similar to mine. It's great that you get so much support and encouragement from your spark buddy. I was wondering if you wanted to be "spark buddies" with me too... I need all the encouragement I can get!

    Hi there. Thanks for your comments on my page about eating healthily. I know, in theory, that you're supposed to shop produce seasonally, but I tend to have the same fruit and veggies that I buy year round. Perhaps that's why sometimes they don't taste very good!

    Anyway, my favorite meal is my own version of taco salad. I use ground extra lean turkey with taco seasoning, black beans, Trader Joe baked blue corn chips (crumbled up and tossed in) a tomato, some mozzarella cheese, and lots of salsa. It's a little high on the sodium because of the salsa, but overall I think it's healthy, and I never get tired of it.

    Thank you so much for your sweet comment! I'm actually enjoying a weekend without my husband and alone in the house! I WAS going to just sit on the couch all day but I think that I'll get up at some point and go do the elliptical and my Wii fit! Thank you for the inspiration!! emoticon
