Hi to anyone who has decided to check out my page. I would like to share my journey with others who are also checking into a new life. A health scare has put me on this path but the desire to really live my life is the reason why i will keep on going. I am a chrisitan and believe that God isn't finished with me yet so I will lose the weight and then the doctors will do what they need to do. I look forward to sharing with others as we all deal with our diffferent journeys..

6th August 2011 - After months of waiting and focussing on getting healthier for the op to remove the tumour from my kidney, I am now in the recovery stage. A few ups and downs as I put on a whole heap of weight over the week of the op and then lost it all the week I was home but still feeling really good about the life changes that we have made. Worked out that I have lost just over 20% of my original body weight and worked out where I need to be to be in an obese weight range rather than morbidly obese... 115kgs is my next goal. Onwards and downwards..

8th November 2011 - Well the 3 months down since the op and all the test results show that I am clear of any further cancer and everything is working well. I have now lost almost 47kilos and I am feeling healthier by the day. There are so many things that I am now able to do better. I can play with my granddaughters without getting exhausted. I don't need to think twice before I sit on a chair because I do seem to fit in them all now whereas that was becoming quite an issue. I haven't been back to the pictures yet but I think my hubby and I will just have to get there soon so I can see how comfortable those seats are now as I had stopped going to the pictures because i just couldn't stand the pain of the arms cutting into my legs. I bought my first sexy, feminine dress for my sons wedding and I can't wait to have photos taken of me in it... actually that is one of the biggest changes, I just love having photos taken of me. The back seat safety belt fits on me so no more pretending the safety belt is done up when I go in other peoples cars, my engagement ring fits again after being off my finger for 7 out of the 8 years that I have had it... well you get the idea.. i could probably sit here all day and keep telling you the good things about the losing weight and get healthier but I think you get the point...

My Goals:
First goal is to lose over 10 kilos by the time i see the specialist in May so I will have some fighting power behind me when I ask her to put me on the waiting list to have the op that i need to have.
Once she says yes, then the next goal is to just lose some weight every week for the rest of this year. Doesn't have to be much.. just needs to be less than the week before.
Not even sure how much weight i need to lose to be in the healthy weight range (not even if I believe that the healthy weight range is healthy) but I would like to get down to 100kilos and then I will readjust my vision.

My Program:
Keeping track of all foods that go in my mouth.
Eating a good healthy balance of foods with no extremes.
Exercising 10 minutes every day.
Swimming for 30 minutes at least 3 times a week.
Journalling and reading as much information about health and lifetstyle changes on Sparkpeople on a daily basis (when i do my tracking).

Personal Information:
I am married to a wonderful man. We have been married for just over 7 years. I have 3 adult sons and 1 adult daugther to my first marriage and 2 beautiful granddaughters.
I live on a beautiful bush property in the middle of Victoria in Australia.

Other Information:
I am a Social Worker by profession and spend my days supporting and listening to people who are struggling with gambling addictions.
I have a strong belief that Jesus died on the cross for me and that he loves me personally and deeply but that doesnt mean that we can't be friends even if you have completly different beliefs. It just means that lifeand conversations will be interesting when we get together.

"Beautiful Woman Award! Once you've been given this award, you have to paste it on the wall of 8 women who deserve it. If you receive more than 3, you know you're really beautiful! If you break the chain, nothing will happen, but it's always good to know someone thinks you're beautiful inside and out"

Hey, J, I used to love to do aerobics, I love the music. But arthritis and a crook right knee put a stop to that. emoticon
Thanks for the lovely Goodie, I feel very swish wearing it!! lol......
Went walking again this morning & locked myself out of the car!! I had a long walk to the local big supermarket, (Coles) who let me use their phone, plus they had the number in a Teledex!! I guess there must be other stoopid people like me out there!! After my long walk in very hot humid conditions, this was me!!

Anyway the guy from the Motoring place, NRMA for the Aussies, drove me back to my car & had it open in around 90 seconds!!

Was glad to get home, dripping wet, thank goodness for air-con in the car......
didn't get to do any stretching or incidental exercise, like I do normally, rotating all the joints, knees, ankles wrists & etc. as a rule, after I have stopped walking. Plus a few 'weight lifting' exercises without the weights!! true! lol....not supposed to use weights if you've got arthritis in your hands!!
Anyway, feeling good now, have had the air-con on in the house, my DB bought me a little personal one, just for one room, but have now turned it off as it costs too much to run. We are having thunderstorms each afternoon at the moment, hat will continue for the rest of the week. Soooo humid, ukky, I do not like being hot, being an Englishwoman I still haven't gotten used to the heat/humidity in Sydney, & I've been here since 1968!!
    Enjoy the spa.......

Shabam is an aerobics class that has loud, popular music and we do lots of dance moves that really shouldnt be done by middle aged overweight women like mysefl but it is was lots of fun and when I get the moves to co-ordinate I might just look like the footloose or those other women in all the movies that dance across the floor.. ha, ha.. thanks for your support ...
