I want to snow ski in the spring for the first time in 8 years. Losing 50 pounds will make a HUGE difference in how long and how well I'll be able to ski. The exercise will have my muscles ready!

I am a marathon walker and hope to complete a 1/2 marathon in Nov. after a 1 year hiatus. I'm excited about the challenge and I love how my body feels after I work out. It's just getting to the exercise that still gives me fits.

I am returning to Spark People to help me keep track of what I eat, when I eat it, and how much I exercise. I used SP faithfully a couple of years ago and loved it. I had 6 months of detailed information for the nutritionist I was referred to. She suggested reducing my calorie intake to 1,000 a day which I balked at. Now, up 10 pounds, I've decided to try it her way. I am SO ready to be lighter. I love to exercise, but it is harder at this weight. I feel trapped in cement.

I have a wonderful family. I've been married to my husband forever andwe have two boys, 9 and 15.

Saw your post on the rookie running group about eating before running - good to know. And I like one of yor top 5 reasons to lose weight - to catch my reflection and see the woman who is in my mind. After I gained a lot of weight, I would sometimes see a picture of myself and think, "Oh my God! Who is that?!" emoticon

Thanks for being a part of the SlowFatRunners team - where it's not about the speed, it's all about the fitness. Are you doing the San Antonio Half in November?

ADDED: reply to your reply, lol! RE: San Antonio RNR - I made our hotel reservations a couple of weeks ago, and that was already too late to get close to downtown! As it is, we're going to be a few miles out, but that's okay; my team and I are carpooling down on Saturday morning, then taking the guided route tour that afternoon.
