Hey all you sparkers - a big thanks for stopping by my page. A little introduction...... and how I came to find SparkPeople........

My name is Deanna, and I have been overweight almost all of my life. I can remember being in grade school and being one of the biggest girls in my group of friends. I was also the tallest in my group at the time, and therefore I contributed the reason I was heavier to the fact I was also a lot taller. I wasn't "obese" but I look back now, and I can see that I was a little heavier.

During my high school years, I started to put on even more weight. By the time I graduated from high school, I weighed around 170 pounds, and I can remember wearing a size 14 jean. Much bigger than most of my friends who were under a size 12 or less. College, I put on the freshman 15 and then some. By my third year in college, I started my yo-yo dieting, and went from diet to diet. I was on weight watchers, Richard Simmons, Kathy Smith, was a vegetarian for 2 years to lose the weight, you name it, I have done it!

In 2005, a year and a half after my son was born, I was 30 years old, and I could feel the pain in my back, knees, hips, everywhere basically. I again joined weight watchers with my mother in law, and kept plugging away at it. I wanted to be healthy, and I truly longed to lose the weight I was carrying around with me. By the end of 2006, I was down almost 75 pounds, and I felt GREAT! I was in a size 12/14 again. I looked good to! I thought that life was grand and I was in school pursuing my nursing degree, and was almost done with it by this time (as I started in 2004 when my son was born), I was happy that my son was a healthy, happy little boy and I also felt so in love with my husband and my life.

Then January 2007, my husband dropped a bomb in my life, and after going through a divorce, all of the stress from going through the divorce, moving out on my own with my son, losing a job and starting a new one, trying to finish school to get my RN, it was all just too much stress for me to handle. I was lonely, depressed and just wishing that life would be easier. I found my comfort in food, and guess what? Yup, I put on ALL of the weight again, and then some!

I took a good look at myself in the mirror just before Christmas in 2009. What I saw was a woman who was unhappy, sad and disappointed with herself. Someone who's self esteem was just totally washed down the toilet, along with all of her motivation and hopes and dreams. I looked at that woman staring back at me in the mirror and said to her "Enough is enough! It's time to get off this pity train and move on with life! It's time to take charge and lose the weight and get back on track to being happy!"

So, on December 26, 2009, I made a pact with myself and started the journey to becoming healthy one more time, and for the last time! I weighed myself, and what I found was quite the shock. I sat there and looked at that scale, it screamed at me 244!!!! Oh my gosh! What did I allow myself to become??? I started exercising that night. I haven't looked back since.

I went ahead and got back on, and decided to make sure I was keeping a journal with my food intake, my exercise minutes, follow the meal plans (as a guide) and the exercise routines for strength training, join in on groups and follow other people's inspiring blogs and words. I have found motivation from this site each and every day since I made that pact with myself.

I have been eating mostly organic/clean foods while watching calories, getting help from the community, and I have been doing the smart thing this time around....exercising and resistant strength training. I get in 5-6 times a week of cardio (running and cross training) and 3 times with strength training, as I am using the Chalene Extreme program right now. I have been working out with the Wii Fit Plus, Wii EA Active Sports and Active Sports more exercises for some extra cardio when I want it.

I am done with being overweight, and I am done with making excuses for myself. This is the time to get this done - once and for all!

3. Watch and count calories and stop any unnecessary snacking.
4. To have the self confidence I once had in myself.

My Program:
1. Eat mostly organic and natural foods.
2. Cardio 5 to 6 times a week
3. Running 4 times a week.
4. Strength Training 3 to 4 times a week (Chalene Extreme through Beach Body)
5. Yoga 4 x's a week for 60 minutes each session to maintain flexibility and gain inner strength and peace within myself.

Personal Information:
I live in good ol' Wisconsin. I am a single mom, who works full time as a registered nurse 8-9 days every two weeks.
