I'm 52 years old and have been married for 26 years. We have 6 precious four legged friends that bark for their dinner and 2 awesome grand-kids. I have recently graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Social Work (May 2015) and a minor in Addiction treatment services. I did an an internship at a family resource center that taught me a great deal of gratitude.

My interests include music of all kinds except for rap, dogs and all animals, television, walking, and tattoos!!

Fitness Minutes: 2,151

My Goals:
Short term goals are to exercise at least 1/2 hour daily, drink lots of water, eat fruit in the morning and nuts and veggies during the day.

Long term is to lose the 50 pounds I've gained over the years and get my health back.

My Program:
Snack on nuts and fruits or vegetables

Exercise shortly after breakfast for at least a 1/2 hour

Eat a healthy lunch

Eat a healthy dinner and when possible, I try to exercise at least another 1/2 hour

I keep a log of the food I'm eating as well as my daily activities

Personal Information:
My name is Janet Vaughan. I live in rural Nevada, and I have been attending UNR for my Bachelor's degree. Most of my education has been online but some classes I have had the pleasure of attending in Reno at the campus.

I am unable to drive at this time due to epilepsy, and have had some other medical issues try to slow me down. I am fighting them, along with aging as much as possible.

Other Information:
"Feel the fear and do it anyways" is my favorite quote (and is a good book as well).

Grease, The truth about cats ad dogs, Roxanne and Run Fat Boy Run are some of my favorite movies.

On TV, some of my favorite kinds of shows would be Cops, Alaska State Troopers, Medical related or Forensic related. I also enjoy The Voice and some food related shows.

    Congrats on taking the first step into changing your life to a more healthier one by joining the site. Spark is filled with amazing people that will motivate, support and encourage you on your journey. There is so much to learn and discover here, take this one day at a time. A couple of things I would like to suggestion to make you Spark experience a great one.

    1. Make goals for yourself. Each month I make a list of what I want to accomplish that month and break them down to smaller goals to work with week by week. This way the BIG picture doesn't seem so big.

    2. Join Spark teams. There are tons of teams here and you will be able to find ones that fit to what you like or want in a team.

    The key to success here is to be active and you've already started by joining. You will find that everyone is willing to help you out if you need it. Spark friends are here for support, motivation and encouragement. Good luck on your journey to a healthier lifestyle! Again, welcome to the SP family!

    I forgot to let you know, that I'm in the same boat. If it wasn't for the husband, I'd have many more dogs. LOL

    In fact we were talking about the chi movie and how there will be so many displaced chi pups after this and I told him I wished we had a huge house and yard so we could adopt all the chis!! He actually laughed and agreed. LOL
