Hi there! I think I’m gonna start tracking again. Lord knows I need it!

Hey gal I have a question and you and Connie are my go to rabbit experts.

Last night Gwenny started holding her head to the left, I picked her up and checked her ears, clean as could be, checked her jaw, nothing, teeth were fine, but she seemed tender on her ear and jaw line and above her eye she had a small bit of swelling. She was fine yesterday morning. So I had some pain meds and I gave her a small dose. WOW she went and ate her food and papaya, her greens and then laid down and went to sleep.

This morning she was still holding her head to the side and she would not eat her vanilla wafer (her and Georgie start their day with a vanilla wafer) and about 30 minutes later she laid down and passed away before we could even get her to the vet.

No seizure, not symptoms of real pain (I know they hide it very well though) but it was just from yesterday evening about 6pm to this morning at 9am.

    Any ideas?

I am just gutted about this.

I have a bunny emoticon sitter who comes to my home twice a day to take care of Gerard and Violet. She is an older widow and lives less than a mile away and loves this gig because she can use the cash and it affords her a lot of flexibility in that there is a rather large window of time for her to come for the morning and evening feeding. Plus, she does not have to walk them and I always have plenty of pre-filled bus tubs with litter and she just switches them out. Since they always have plenty of hay, she really comes to give them a huge plate of greens twice a day and to change out their two big bowls of water (always 2 in case one were to get knocked over). Of course they tackle her for 2 raisins for each visit. They DEMAND it. LOL emoticon

Now if YOU lived near me, I most definitely would use your services! It would be like having the security of a bunny ICU nurse! I leave her with the number for their vet and a friend that is a fostering director for the local HRS. She would be the one to call at the first sign of trouble, but thankfully I have only had one issue in over 6 years that we never really figured out what it was. Gerard had what I call "collapse episodes" where he would be fine and suddenly partially collapse and then pop right back up. He was treated for ecuniculi and recovered but went to a cardiologist and had an EKG andf then had to go in as an inpatient for a day and wear a halter heart monitor. Violet HATED it at the hospital! She was really indignant but we did not want to separate them and we thought Gerard would need her support. As it turned out, he had a blast because the staff ADORED him and treated him like a rock star. They found nothing and I am grateful he is fine. I kinda wonder if maybe it was some freaky thing like a reaction to a spider bite or something. The hubby was none too please with the nearly $2000 shelled out but we had to do it. He kept muttering that Gerard had better start shirting gold pellets! LOL

Man, than was a blabbathon just for you asking what we are doing with the rabbits when we go away!

What's up? Jeesh. You would think you were like a BUSY parent or something. Kinda hard to jump right into a teenager without YEARS of acclimation... Hope you are having a FABULOUS summer! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
