Introduction Text August '07 -- Found this site in HEALTH magazine; and hoping it helps!!! Starting at around 350 and am working towards 180. Been in this 'boat' for many years (ok, most of my life). While I've always been fairly active, I've really slowed down a lot over the past 15 years; some of it age, but mostly the excess weight, my hips and my knees. I had my left hip replaced in May 2002, the right one in June '07, the right knee in September '09 and the left knee in September '10. I'm ready to start walking/hiking again. One of my life-long goals has been a thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail, and hopefully the summer after retirement ('18). But I will not try it if still over 200 (nor will Karen let me).

My goal is reach 180 (which will be about 170 # lost), over the next year or two. One of my short term goals is to visit as many of the SparkPages for the teams I'm on as possilbe (hopefully at least 1 from each team each day).



We currently live in New Palestine, Indiana (just SE of Indianapolis); have been married 40 years and have 2 grown daughters (plus 1 son-in-law, 1 GRANDSON & 1 GRANDDAUGHTER).

My hobbies include: Ham Radio; RV'ing; golf club building/repair; wooden boat building; re-building a 1946 Willys Jeep; and most outdoor activities. You can also reach me at: grizhicks@yahoo.com
