Hey guys my name is Tiffany, I am 23 years old and currently attending college for nursing. I am new to this and am looking for that bit of extra encouragement to help me get on my path of loosing weight.

I was always heavier when I was younger and in my teens, weighing 200 was nothing to me. Then I ended up moving away and met a different crowd of people and got into the partying scene - I went from 200-135 in a span of not even a year - I looked awful, felt awful and still felt that I was fat.

I've now been clean of drugs for 5 years - this upcoming march 2010, will be 4 years that I've been clean from alcohol completely and in April of 2010 will be my 3 year mark from quitting smoking.

In 2006 I was at a comfortable place with my weight - I was 140 pounds and felt great - I then met my fiance and soon found out we we're pregnant but then lost - I went on to have another miscarry. After loosing twice I said enough was enough and went on Depo-Provera birth control, which is the needle that lasts 3 months - I didn't look into the side effects of it and was told by my doctor that there would be some weight gain with this form of BC. In 3 months of taking this form of BC, I gained a whopping 50 pounds, it was fast and very hard for my body to handle. I went through a string of other health ailments from going on depo and after only having the first needle I pulled myself off of it. Then in April of 2007 I quit smoking and gained another 25 pounds . My weight has pretty much stayed the same for the next couple of years and from September 2009 til Now (2010) I've gained another 25 pounds.

What is the scariest thing for me right now is that I was recently told by my doctor on 04.01.2010 that my BMI is 43 which makes me morbidly obese and he sent in a request for Gastric Bypass surgery! I refuse to do the surgery because I honestly believe that I am not morbidly obese and I will prove it to myself that I have the willpower and courage to battle this weight demon on my own.

I will keep posting my progress on my page and give updates! Wish me luck!

    Hey there!

Thanks for adding me as a friend! I see we have a mutual friend; QUIDDITCHGRRL.

First, I have to tell you how PROUD I am that you want to do this the RIGHT way instead of surgically. We, as a public, are always looking for the quick fix no matter the cost. I can tell you that I've worked my butt off, literally, for every pound I've lost. I know you can do the same.

    Best wishes for 2010!

Welcome and thanks for adding me as a friend. You CAN do this. You have overcome so much already. This is yet one more thing and I understand how difficult it can be. Focus on getting through small parts of the day successfully and before you know it, the day is over and you have done well. Get through breakfast; make it until lunch; get through the afternoon; make it until dinner; get through the evening; head off to bed. One day down and each day will get easier. Give a yell if there's anything I can do to help motivate or encourage you. I know you can do this!
