I started on SparkPeople in January, 2008. I weighed 270. With the help and support of the communities here, I was able to get down to 170 by May 2009. I was living on a high. I was running, eating healthy, and overall I was happy. I ended up joining the Army. To celebrate, I ran a half-marathon the weekend before I left for Basic Training. Two weeks into the Army, I severely broke my ankle and leg. It took several months of rehab just to be able to walk again. Because of the severity of the injury (8 months after the injury, the fibula still had not healed and was diagnosed as a non-union), I was medically discharged. Shortly after going home, my hips decided they couldn't handle the constant limping. There were many days that I couldn't move because of the pain, and had to stay in bed. It took nearly 3 and a half years before the limp finally went away. By then, though, my back and neck started giving way. I completely reverted to my former self, but this time in a less-hopeful situation. On Dec 28, 2013, I weighed in at 278- my heaviest weight ever. I have so many health problems. They have been around since before I put on the weight this time (thus, not weight-related, but possibly exacerbated by it). The doctors I have gone to can't figure them out, they just seem to get worse, no matter what I do. So, it is now out of desperation that I start from scratch

My Goals:
Get the health issues under control.

My Program:
I will take it as it happens, and adjust as needed.

Starting with no gluten/dairy (need to ween myself off first, though)

More vegetables.

If I slip, get back on and try again immediately, instead of giving up for a couple months ("It's only one day," can easily turn into months)

Personal Information:
I have a BS in Psychology and Sociology. I was medically discharged from the Army due to a possible lifelong injury that prohibits some activities.

Other Information:
I would love to be able to run again.

Any magic pills? haha I am just teasing, I have lost about 10 lbs the last two weeks, but MAN it takes work and discipline doesn't it? "For Iron to become Steel it must first go through FIRE"- I love that quote and its SO true! Good luck on your journey and that you for the friendly welcome!! :)
