Hi FULL: Thanks so much for your post on my unintentionally controversial "Why R U Religious" Thread. I meant no harm, wasn't jesus bashing only trying to learn so thanks for seeing that and for your honest and unemotional insight.

Hi there, Welcome to the managing diabetes group. Great page! I am answering your question here as not to add to much off topic to the 'what was your BS today"

I am a newbie to diabetes, but have read/learned quite a bit recently. Your doc may be talking about your A1c number is getting high, by the way you worded your info. Prediabetes is in short terms (my words) getting close in signs and symptoms, numbers (could be a different one(s) that is not just glucose number), to diabetes. You are at a good stage, you can turn it around before you get there! Signs of prediabetes can include high blood pressure, being overweight, being sedentary (lack of enough exercise to be at a healthy weight), thyroid conditions, etc. I can tell you if you get your eating under control, add exercise to your daily routine, you will not only lose weight but will lessen the chances of becoming diabetic. Once you are a diabetic, you are always a diabetic, even if you get it under control and do not have to take meds or insulin. You always have to watch so you can decrease further damage uncontrolled diabetes can cause. If you are at pre-diabetes stage, you should follow closely to a diabetic regimen with food and exercise so you can maintain control at the stage you are or move out of the number region that makes you close to the diabetic stage. You can do it! You have a great warning to tell you to watch what you are doing with your body! You have come to the right forum as I have found this group is VERY supportive and very informative. Read as much of the forum as you can and you will learn much! Your initial reaction was very similar to mine...Scared! Your doctor did you a favor to warn you to make changes now. Please do it! If your insurance allows, have your doctor refer you to a nutritionist or dietician to help you understand what changes you can make to keep you healthy and out of the diabetic diagnosis. It will be so beneficial to you. I am diagnosed as a diabetic but have lowered my numbers considerably with a loss of 25 lbs. The info that tells you that you can make major changes with high blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar levels with 7% to 10% of your body weight loss is true! You can do it. Everyone here at spark will do it with you. There are so many benefits that you will feel with control of your health, not just looking and feeling better on the outside. Don't be scared anymore, be active in the outcome in small steps and you will succeed. You can do it!!
