Introduction Text I've joined SparkPeople because I've been so impressed by all of the support that my wife (Hope2011) has gotten, and I wanted to be a part of this journey with her! Goal weight: 220 Eventually I'd like to return to both Kendo and fencing. That's a long-term goal, but something to keep in mind.

My wife (Hope2011) and I are eating a mostly vegetarian diet (although I just can't resist some seafood now and then). I am also trying to find an exercise program that I can stick with. I loved Judo, but cannot continue with it due to prior injuries. Right now, walking our four dogs (!!) is my main source of exercise, and some walking on campus. I also Wii whenever I can. I'm trying to keep to a caloric intake of 2000 or less per day, and eventually hope to incorporate a 30 minute workout five days a week. That has been going well, but the exercise has been rather low-impact. I need to get my heart pumping during my workouts!

I am a graduate student in NW Ohio. My wife has been a member of Sparkpeople for two years, and I am glad to join her here!

I enjoy reading (right now, lots of steampunk and cyberpunk); I love fencing, though I haven't done it in years. PhD coursework starts in the fall! Woo-hoo!
